2024 MAMA Awards: Nominees Announced and Fans’ Choice Voting Now Open

The nominees for the 2024 MAMA Awards have been revealed, and fans can now cast their votes in the highly anticipated Fans’ Choice categories to support their favorite K-Pop artists!

The excitement is building for the 2024 MAMA Awards as this year’s nominees have been officially announced! The ceremony is set to take place at the prestigious Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on November 21 (PST) and at the iconic Kyocera Dome in Osaka on November 22 and 23 (KST). This year’s event promises to be a thrilling celebration of the best in K-Pop, highlighting the artistry and achievements of the genre over the past year.

Awards Criteria

The MAMA Awards have a unique set of criteria for determining the final winners across various categories:

• Artist of the Year and Artist Category Awards: Judging evaluation accounts for 20%, while streaming and downloads contribute 40% (with 25% from Korea and 15% globally), and physical album sales make up the remaining 40%.
• Song of the Year and Genre Category Awards: Judging evaluation holds a 40% weight in these awards, with streaming and downloads constituting 60% (40% from Korea and 20% globally).
• Album of the Year: Winners will be selected based on 40% judging evaluation and 60% physical album sales, applicable only to albums that have sold at least 1 million copies.
• Best Music Video and Best Choreography: These categories are solely determined by judging evaluation, which accounts for 100% of the final decision.
• Fans’ Choice Male/Female: Voting is conducted in two rounds, with Round 1 comprising 90% Mnet Plus votes and 10% X votes, and Round 2 following the same voting structure.
• Fans’ Choice of the Year: This award will be determined by 90% Mnet Plus votes, 10% X votes, and an additional 10% from real-time Mnet Plus votes.

Voting Timeline

The first round of voting for the Fans’ Choice nominees is open until October 25 at 11:59 p.m. KST. From the pre-vote, 20 artists will be selected in both the Fans’ Choice Male and Female categories, advancing to the second round of voting. This round will occur from November 1 at 7 p.m. KST to November 15 at 11:59 p.m. KST.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration at the 2024 MAMA Awards, music must have been released between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024. This allows for a comprehensive look at the year’s top performances and releases.
