4 Moments In Episodes 11-12 Of “Family By Choice” That Made Our Hearts Flutter

1 month ago 13

We’ve finally reached that point in “Family by Choice” where romance starts to overflow everywhere you look. Whether it is because of the budding relationship between Kim San Ha (Hwang In Youp) and Yoon Ju Won (Jung Chaeyeon), or due to the close friendship that hints at a future love between Kang Hae Jun (Bae Hyeon Seong) and Park Dal (Seo Ji Hye), there were plenty of moments in the latest episodes that made viewers’ hearts beat out of excitement, happiness, and delight. Although true to its essence, this drama continues to give us a lot of scenes full of dramatic tension that will keep you on your toes, waiting to know how exactly this show will end. In the meantime, let’s enjoy these heart-fluttering moments for as long as possible.

Warning: spoilers from episodes 11-12 ahead!

1. Kim San Ha asking Yoon Ju Won for a chance

Previously, San Ha was all set and ready to give his heart to Ju Won, but little did we know how determined he was to conquer her heart. He not only confesses his love immediately, bulldozing his way into her life, but he also asks for a chance to prove his true feelings. He isn’t even afraid to openly show his affection in front of everybody else, to the point where even Park Dal notices it right away. Even if Ju Won tries to play dumb and pretends that she isn’t shaken by every word he says, she cannot stay unfazed for too long, and little by little she lets her heart take the lead in the matter.

Admittedly, San Ha might appear confident at every moment he approaches Ju Won. But as appealing as his cool attitude is, it’s truly a heart-warming moment when you realize that he isn’t as unbothered as he looks. Furthermore, he has to put up with Hae Jun’s latest antics when he comes up with the idea to marry Ju Won in order to become a true family so Hae Jun can return a bit of what he has received from her and her father. However, San Ha is confident that there’s really nobody who can steal away Ju Won’s love from him.

2. Kang Hae Jun pretending to be Park Dal’s boyfriend

A romantic comedy is not really a romantic comedy if one of the lead characters doesn’t crash at least one blind date. This common topic gets even more interesting this time since we know Park Dal had a massive crush on Hae Jun. He happily agrees to pretend to be Park Dal’s boyfriend in order to stop her mother from looking for a potential husband for her. And even if it was all for the sake of getting rid of an annoying suitor, watching Dal confidently admit that Hae Jun is the person she likes not only put a smile on his face but also made me smile from ear to ear at the sight of it.

But romance aside, this stage allows them to have one of those moments in which Hae Jun opens up about his plans and concerns with Dal, and he also listens to her advice, just like they used to do 10 years ago. Because even if he has someone as smart as San Ha by his side, Dal is the only one who understands the way Hae Jun thinks and makes him see things in a very different light. In that regard, just as he said, what would it be of Hae Jun without Park Dal by his side? With her considerate insight, he can see once again that he doesn’t need to give a lot of money or property to be a good son and brother to the Yoon family.

3. Kim San Ha and Yoon Ju Won confirm their feelings

This is the moment many were waiting for! Ju Won finally lets go of her concerns and only listens to what her heart has been telling her for so long: she is in love with Kim San Ha. But this is something we can only deduce from her actions, since she never says it aloud. She worries about her family’s reaction and Hae Jun’s more than anything, but it is clear that her heart already belongs to San Ha. When they share their first kiss under the rain, it is like the perfect picture from an old romantic movie, which is the perfect setup for this lovely pair.

For some viewers, the development of their relationship might appear too rushed or have a lack of depth. And though there might be some truth in that, it doesn’t mean the chemistry and romance isn’t there. The foundation of their love isn’t in a grandiose display of affection or a passionate explosion of feeling. Their feelings started out in the comfort of their day-to-day interactions, their mutual understanding, and the fact they could be themselves without flare or pretense. So the way they show us their new facet as a couple fits perfectly for both this story and their characters.

4. Kang Hae Jun and Park Dal comforting each other

What a lovely turn of events would it be if somehow Hae Jun and Park Dal could end up together? For starters, she clearly still has some of her old feelings since high school. He might have never shown a clear preference for any girl other than Ju Won—and that was only in a brotherly way—nor have we seen him truly in love with anybody, but he seems to have a weakness for Park Dal. She has been there when Hae Jun shows his most vulnerable side, and he also has seen how difficult and burdensome her life has been because of her mother, so it isn’t farfetched to think that at some point there could be a love story between them.

But before we can see any further romance between these two couples, we will have to endure more drama coming up. We know now that Hae Jun’s mother is carrying a deep secret behind her disappearance but right now it’s hard to say who is hurting their child more. It’s either Hae Jun’s mother, who abandoned her son so he could have a normal life, or San Ha’s mother, who refuses to let go of him and represents a clear threat to his and Ju Won’s relationship right now. As we are getting even closer to the end of this show, we should buckle up and get ready for one exciting ride in the next episodes of “Family by Choice.”
