With their stunning looks and "it girl" aura, these 5 K-pop idols could've been SM's main visuals if they debuted under the label.
Why did they choose another agency?
(G)I-DLE Yuqi
One of the top beauties and brains who hailed from China, Yuqi shared that she originally passed the audition for SM Entertainment. If she had pursued it, she could have been in aespa.
However, she chose Cube Entertainment after realizing that she would suit their "girl crush" concept more. Yuqi also hilariously revealed that the label told her that if she signed with them, she would debut after 1 year of training.

Another visual idol who could be in aespa if she chose SM is NMIXX Sullyoon, who is currently in JYP Entertainment.
During her early debut days, the idol shared that she passed the "BIG 3" SM, JYP, and YG auditions, boasting not only top-tier beauty but solid singing and dancing skills.
Eventually, she chose JYP due to her love for her senior girl group, TWICE.
Wooah Nana
Although she didn't try to audition for SM unlike many rumors, K-Netz think that Nana would be one of the top visuals due to her uncanny resemblance with Red Velvet Irene.
In a past interview, Nana revealed that SM actually tried to cast her multiple times. But due to her loyalty to their CEO who raised her in a dance team before establishing the label, she chose NV and debuted in Wooah.
K-Netz discussed that if she wasn't in aespa, the 01-liners she would be the strongest candidate to become SMNGG leader and main visuals.
Lee Hyori
Prior to becoming Fin. K.L, Lee Hyori trained under SM Entertainment for a while before leaving due to personal reasons.
Afterward, DSP media scouted her to be a member of Fin.K.L, the group to which she gained massive popularity. She didn't become an icon years later, but also became the CF queen and the most-sought celebrity in entertainment as well.
Apink Oh Hayoung
Among second-gen idols, Oh Hayoung has a strong affection for the Girls' Generation; thus, the label that she really wanted to train in was SM Entertainment.
However, she didn't make it to the final lineup.
She insisted on entering the label, but one team leader there decided to take her when they left for Cube. This was how she was able to debut as Apink.
