As a part of Asian Junkie’s ongoing coverage of the implosion happening at ONE HUNDRED under the direction of their CEO Cha Ga Won, it’s been announced that nine members of THE BOYZ members are filing a criminal complaint against her for embezzlement.

On April 21, a media outlet reported that Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric—nine members of THE BOYZ—filed a complaint against ONE HUNDRED CEO Cha Ga Won for violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement).
In response to the report, the legal representative of the nine members confirmed, “It is true that they recently filed a complaint against CEO Cha Ga Won for violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement).”
It was reported that the wages of on-site staff had not been paid properly, the unpaid salaries have accumulated over several months, and the members reportedly did not receive proper support for essential expenses required for their entertainment activities such as transportation and meal costs.

This appears to be an extension of their ongoing contract dispute, and comes after the court’s first hearing on suspending their contract.

ONE HUNDRED has denied the allegations, saying an audit confirmed there was no embezzlement.

Regarding the embezzlement allegations against Representative Chagawon, One Hundred Label claimed, “The legal contradiction of the complaint itself is proven by the police investigation team’s refusal to merge the case.” They revealed that after the Yongsan Police Station received the embezzlement case, they requested the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Regional Investigation Unit, Financial Crime Investigation Team, 1st Division, 6th Team, to merge the case, but it was ultimately rejected.
Additionally, One Hundred Label stated, “The audit by the accounting firm confirmed ‘no embezzlement,’” and emphasized, “We have clearly confirmed that there was no misappropriation or embezzlement of funds.”

Honestly? I’m not sure how strong of an embezzlement case there is as I’m obviously not privy to their financial records, but the courts have trended towards upholding the sanctity of the contract recently, and it feels like non-payment (if true) should at least lead to the boys getting an injunction. That would essentially free them to at least operate independently while this is all shaking out.

Plus, you have to forgive me for being skeptical of the word of a CEO and company who are currently separately embroiled in a massive fraud case with the artists they signed and their IP at the center of it.
