On November 22, the National Assembly announced that a petition urging the Environment and Labor Committee to review the perjury charges against ADOR CEO Kim Joo Young has been forwarded to the committee as a reference document.
The petition, which was submitted on November 12, accused Kim Joo Young of perjuring herself during her testimony before the National Assembly’s Environment and Labor Committee on October 15 when she made statements regarding NewJeans Hanni’s workplace harassment incident. The petitioner urged the National Assembly to take action against Kim based on the National Assembly Testimony and Evidence Law.
The perjury accusation involved the infamous HYBE Weekly Music Industry Report, which created quite a controversy after it was leaked to the public a few weeks ago. The petitioner stated that Kim Joo Young was a CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer) of HYBE at the time the report was circulated among the C-level executives of the company. Despite this, she failed to mention it during her testimony where she claimed to be working to prevent human rights violations and uphold a respectful behavior code. The petitioner argued that this contradiction constituted perjury.
