A staff member of a Hong Kong-based airline was caught selling the flight details of top stars like BTS for profit.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s cybercrime department has confirmed that a 30-year-old woman, identified as “A,” was selling flight reservation details of BTS and other top K-Pop stars illegally. She is currently being investigated by the authorities.
According to reports, this individual worked for an international airline and leaked hundreds of flight details between 2023 and 2024. Since she had direct access to internal booking systems, she would use the internal software system to look up celebrity names and birth dates to obtain confidential flight information, including seat numbers.

“A” reportedly charged as much as ₩30,000 KRW (about $21.00 USD) for each sale, the cost being even higher for top stars like BTS. Investigators estimate that she has sold over 1,000 sets of data, making at least ₩10.0 million KRW (about $6,990 USD) in profit or more. According to her own testimony, “A” started sharing the information initially as a favor to her acquaintances but later turned it into a for-profit scheme.
Authorities are reportedly probing the matter thoroughly and trying to track down the other individuals involved in the sale and distribution of these celebrity flight details.
