ALLDAY Project: All The Controversies Overshadowing THE BLACK LABEL Group’s Debut

THE BLACK LABEL recently announced that it will be debuting a new co-ed group, ALLDAY Project, less than a year after the debut of MEOVV. The line-up and its official name were announced on June 8. The group will debut on June 23 at 6 p.m. KST.

However, less than twenty-four hours after the announcement, controversies began to cast a shadow on ALLDAY Project’s debut.

1. Cultural Appropriation

One of the introduced members, model-turned-idol Lee Chaewon, known by his stage name Tarzzan, has been criticized for alleged cultural appropriation.

On Instagram, he shared modeling photos that feature him wearing various types of braids.

He also has braids in this newly released photo of the group. On social media, netizens have now started to call out the idol for alleged cultural appropriation.

2. The “Chaebol” Member

Tarzzan isn’t the only member who has been in the news for negative reasons. Some netizens have also expressed their mixed feelings about Annie Moon.

Annie Moon, who was previously a rumored member of MEOVV, is the granddaughter of the Samsung chairman. In other words, she comes from one of the richest families in Korea. Although some fans are excited about Annie Moon’s inclusion in the group, others aren’t happy about the “hype” stemming from her status and wealth.

3. Tarzzan’s Social Media Activity

Some netizens are calling for Tarzzan to be removed from the group after digging into his social media history, over his alleged support of a convicted felon. In 2023, Canadian “rapper” Tory Lanez was convicted of three felony charges, including assault with a semiautomatic handgun against rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
