ATEEZ member Wooyoung has announced his resolute decision not to participate in the “Like Jennie” dance challenge.

“Like Jennie,” the title track of BLACKPINK member Jennie‘s solo album, Ruby, has taken over the internet thanks to its catchy tune and powerful choreography. Almost all major K-Pop idols have participated in the dance challenge, including TXT‘s Yeonjun, ENHYPEN‘s Niki, ITZY‘s Ryujin, Yeji, Chaeryeong, and IVE‘s Yujin, among others.

With the trend of the “Like Jennie” dance challenge growing, fans have also become eager to see their favorite idols participate in it. But when Wooyoung got asked about doing it, he responded with a straightforward rejection.
During a recent livestream on ATEEZ’s fan communication platform, Wooyoung replied to a fan’s request to do the dance challenge by saying that he won’t be doing it, but followed it up with a question for the fan: “Aren’t you ATINY?”

That next question hinted at the reason behind Wooyoung’s refusal because most ATEEZ fans are aware of the group’s conflict with Vata, the choreographer who created the “Like Jennie” dance.

In 2022, Vata was a participant in the popular Mnet show Street Man Fighter , and he got accused of plagiarizing the famous “driving” move from ATEEZ’s “Say My Name” choreography. The move was created by Josh Smith, Johnny Erasme, and Anze Skrube and showcased to the world when the song was released in 2019.
Wooyoung, in particular, was very vocal in calling out Vata publicly on this and even did the “biting” sign a couple of times on stage while performing “Say My Name” to signal that the move was copied.
Given Wooyoung’s intense objection to the plagiarism, and the fact that Vata never apologized for it, it is understandable why he is reluctant to take part in a dance challenge created by him. But many have misunderstood Wooyoung, wondering if he was “shading” Jennie with this refusal. So, fans have taken to social media to clear up the air for him.
to all my blinks friends he doesnt dislike jennie, but the choreographer of the song named vata. he copied ateez' say my name dance and didnt acknowledge or even apologize. wy has called him out multiple times yet no response that's why ateez will never be associated with #him https://t.co/RUpPjxycTB

we are losing the receipts, this is not aimed at jennie at all, in fact vata has been claiming the “say my name” move as his own. Mind you he plagiarised people he was supposedly friends with and he has never apologised, not even once pic.twitter.com/L8LDCullhP https://t.co/qQkJU33HpE

But this is actually very important, he is standing up for artists to defend their work against plagiarism. I think he should bring this up everytime he wants. https://t.co/OqOi9Cse2e
