On July 15, following the tweet’s posting, Korean netizens sparked a heated debate about women’s rights under the clip. Some thought that the actions were too sexual and inappropriate for the audience and harmful, with some sharing some extreme thoughts on what Jennie did.

Lisa’s dancing too — idol concerts are supposed to be fun even for kids to enjoy… I think this is harmful to children. If kids see that kind of stuff, they’ll think showing your chest and shaking your butt is what’s cool and hip… sigh. I thought BLACKPINK were cool women who went off and did their own amazing things and then came back together — but why are they doing this.

Quote tweet section is a mess. Everyone’s getting hit with backlash, lost all sense of shame, and it’s full of people who don’t give a damn about women’s rights. I mean, why does someone who doesn’t need to do this keep doing it? This is genuinely harmful.

Showing boobs because people like it, and doing it knowing people like it — that’s called selling sex. That’s sexual objectification.

Same with Kwon Eunbi — why are Jennie and others actively lowering the bar for women’s rights? These are people who can easily put on amazing performances without doing this kind of stuff.
Yet, some fans hit back at the idea that idols like Jennie wearing “exposing” outfits and doing these kinds of actions are suitable for the age, and if they count as damaging women’s rights, then there weren’t any to start.

If something like this can make women’s rights disappear, then those rights were never there to begin with. And it’s not like Jennie is the only woman in the world lol. The goal wasn’t to flash boobs — a brand specifically made that bikini with ‘like JENNIE’ on it just for her, and she was just showing it off. It’s already on Instagram, fans already saw it. People are overthinking this.

Talking about ‘kids at concerts’ — come on, the members of BLACKPINK are like 28 to 30 now. What, should they be singing Baby Shark at their shows? Even Taylor Swift uses swear words in her lyrics, and Beyoncé has tons of songs that are all about sex appeal. You think there are no kids at those concerts? Seriously, some of these Korean women who learned feminism off Twitter are even more misogynistic.
The topic of female idols and “exposing” outfits has netizens split, and you can read about it below.
