In BLACKPINK Jennie‘s new interview with Clash Music, she discusses the name behind her solo album and much more.

She went track by track, discussing the story behind each song. One song that has currently gained attention is “Like Jennie.” Not only does it have a catchy dance challenge that many celebrities are participating in, it also has a cool message.

She shared the song is actually lighthearted and allows her to express her style and connect with listeners.
It’s not as serious as it may seem. It’s me celebrating my style and my artistry whilst including the fans in the experience. It’s interactive. It’s one of the gifts of being a public-facing figure.

She describes the song as a “self-love anthem.” Even though it talks about being like Jennie, it’s true meaning is to be like yourself and find confidence through the song.
I’m saying get your hair done and get your nails done like me, but in a fun way. It’s really a mirror for them to be who they are. It’s a self-love anthem.

Though Jennie worked hard on the album, she encourages listeners to enjoy it in a fun way rather than with a serious approach.
Whilst I want the world to see my sincerity on this record, I don’t want everyone to approach this album so seriously. I had so much fun making this record and I think it really shows.
