On February 12, BLACKPINK’s Rosé released the performance video for “number one girl.”

An official music video for the popular track was released in November 2024, and many fans were thrilled about it. The video was filmed at Espaces d’Abraxas, Noisy-le-Grand, France, a location familiar to those who have watched the Hunger Games series.
It features Rosé dancing with ballet dancer and model Mickael Lafon.
However, her performance in the video has earned mixed reactions.
Before being joined by Lafon, Rosé dances alone through the set in a more contemporary style than most are familiar with seeing from the idol. This continues when the pair dance together in the middle of the set.

Netizens have discussed the new video, resulting in clips going viral with millions of views on X. Fans praised her for the interpretation of the song, appreciating the artistic vision.
literally started crying when she started her interpretative dance of the song she wrote thats so disgustingly vulnerable and honest further conveying it thru both artforms ROSÉ U R WITHOUT A DOUBT A TRUE ARTIST pic.twitter.com/7vCIlaueL3

Not many will understand Rosé's dance, and what she wants to express through the art of dance. I practiced contemporary dance a while ago, and Rosé's steps are so fluid, I even got emotional when she did the 'ghost hug' and her lifts with her partner creating dynamic sequences.🫂 pic.twitter.com/S55k3JJMei

On the other hand, many were critical of her performance, finding the choreography awkward and not-well timed.
this is terrible. they look like they're just playing around if you wont look at their expressions
they could have hired an actual dancer who can do contemporary choreography https://t.co/URffLjbLvt

With all art, taste is subjective, and this can be seen clearly with reactions to Rosé’s video.
