She prefers a relationship.

BLACKPINK‘s Rosé has not been subject to dating rumors as much as bandmates Jennie and Lisa, and when she has been, it’s been humorous.

That doesn’t mean Rosé is not partaking in it!

Rosé was featured in i-D’s limited edition print zine. This included a detailed interview with the idol in the West Village, in which the interviewer asked the 27-year-old idol if she “partakes in dating much.”

To celebrate her upcoming debut solo album, we collaborated with Rosé on a super limited edition i-D print zine. The zine is available for pre-order in highly limited quantities, so secure one while you can. https://t.co/E5BSQIH9MB pic.twitter.com/nSng4xrJvJ

Rosé didn’t entirely avoid the question. She honestly responded, explaining she prefers relationships to situationships.

I’m like, more of a relationship-er, which is why people say ‘Rosie, you’re still so young’ – Like, I’m very serious about dating.

Rosé stopped herself from going any further, though. The interviewer continued, attempting to find out how an idol dates, but she left it at “No comment” when asked if there’s a dating app.

‘You know what, I’m getting into too much detail.’ How, I ask, does a K-Pop superstar date? Like, is there an app? ‘No comment.’

The interviewer revealed that Rosé would often “catch herself” during conversations, clearly a trait earned from her idol media training.

Rosé catches herself like this a few times during our conversation, in a way that makes it seem like she is still working out how to toe the line between the relative transparency expected of mainstream western stars – the kind of openness that a nakedly emotional album like Rosie would probably warrant – and the closed-off perfection that’s de rigeur in K-Pop.

At one point, I express surprise that she was allowed to release a song like the drinking-game-inspired ‘Apt.’, the lead single from Rosie, due to rules around decorum for K-Pop idols. ‘I think drinking is not bad. It’s more like… dating,’ she says glumly, before quickly changing the subject.
