BTS‘s J-Hope has recently released the music video for his much-anticipated song, “Sweet Dreams (feat. Miguell),” but not all fans are fully satisfied.

While the song has been flooded with love and appreciation from fans and non-fans alike, some ARMYs were ticked off by a specific detail in the music video— an AI artist credited in its description.

theres an ai “artist” credited for the mv 🤦🤦 pic.twitter.com/p9NgaDnqu2

As it is understood at this moment, some of the scenes in the music video were done using generative AI.

As a fan community, ARMYs have largely opposed the use of AI in BTS’s projects, as many consider it a direct contradiction of the group’s artistic value. Many BTS members, including RM and Jungkook, have also unabashedly criticized the growing trend of using generative AI in art.

was namjoon dissing ai on his song not enough? who told that company that using it on the mv was a good idea 😭 pic.twitter.com/GQjmmutaXt

BTS’s Jungkook Voices Concerns About The Future Of AI

So, many fans have called out BIGHIT MUSIC for using generative AI in the “Sweet Dreams” music video instead of hiring a graphics artist to create the scenes in the traditional manner, especially since a label of its stature has all the necessary funds to do so.

That company has no shame employing ai "artists" and using it everywhere, especially given that their own artist has spoken out against it https://t.co/EiXi6ZcclU

This pisses me off so bad cuz like they ain't an artist the sh!t looks like a$$ to begin with & Hybe got all that damn money & couldn't pay for a real artist on a project for one of their biggest artists

Like I keep fking saying this company is a$s but y'all don't believe me https://t.co/FAc74Rlj3N

Noticing AI as I watched the MV left a sour taste in my mouth, the transition from the bathroom to the car was already a mess… I love Hobi's aesthetic and visual world in all his projects, but whose choice was it in Hybe to push AI this hard in this MV? WE DIDN'T NEED THAT. https://t.co/lAYUq6IcqM pic.twitter.com/VTUH6WyNGT

I can't even imagine the amount of money they gave a person to write prompts into a fucking machine oh my god https://t.co/mHfQKHxHKj

smile gone . fuck hybe and their ai loving ways why do they have to keep forcing that shit down my throat https://t.co/To0E0uN3qB pic.twitter.com/cacf8H42ZQ

Another point of contention for some fans was the involvement of Johnny Goldstein in the song. He is credited as a writer, editor, composer and more.

AI artist for the MV… J0hnny G0ldstein in the song credits… this is only gonna get worse if armys keep being anti-b0ycott :/ pic.twitter.com/mh2CQwrXYO

The reason behind some fans’ disapproval of Goldstein’s association with BTS is his controversial past as a former Israeli soldier and his continued support for Zionism. A significant part of ARMYs and other HYBE fandoms have been campaigning to get HYBE to divest from Zionist executives and creatives for over a year in light of Israel’s continued attacks of annexation on Palestine.

Johnny Goldstein credited on @bts_bighit 's newest track is an ex-IOF solider and a member of CCFP who uses the music industry to normalize zionism.

please join our boycott to end the infiltration of zionism into BTS's work#하이브는시오니스트를퇴출하라 #HybeDivestFromZionism https://t.co/FZZhwXWbcO pic.twitter.com/i5ffax0Sk1

A literal IOF soldier CREDITED on Jhopes song. AN IOF SOLDIER, A LITERAL TERRORIST OCCUPATION SOLDIER CREDITED ON THE MEMBERS WORK THIS IS BAD GUYS.

FOR FUCKS SAKE BOYCOTT HYBE AND MAKE IT CLEAR NEITHER ZIONISM OR AI HAS ANY PLACE WITHIN BTS ARTISTRY!!!#HYBEDivestFromZionism https://t.co/2vkRhEieFo

ai in the mv, settler in the credits… yeah the whole fuckass company needs to burn

This is, however, not the first time in recent months that a HYBE release has been met with resistance from fans over the involvement of AI or Zionist creatives. Read more about it here:
