[CONCERT RECAP] ZEROBASEONE’s “Timeless World” Concert Transcends Time in Singapore

With stunning choreography, dynamic visuals, and soul-stirring music, ZEROBASEONE proves they are truly timeless.

On 28th September 2024 (Saturday), as the lights dimmed in the Singapore Indoor Stadium, an electrifying buzz coursed through the crowd as a palpable wave of excitement washed through the crowd, eagerly anticipating the rising KPOP 5th generation group Zerobaseone (ZB1) to make their powerful entrance onto the stage as they made their opening for their first Asia Stop for Timeless World Tour here in Singapore. 

Starting off strong with “Solor Power” as their opening song, they launched into their first choreography with synchronized precision, seamlessly blending their robust dance moves and catchy vocals as the cheers of their fans echoed through the venue captivating a blend of excitement and energy. They then proceeded with their introduction stage with the song “Road Movie” that energized the crowd further and got them excited. The group maintained their vibrant and dynamic theme as they continued the concert with performances of “Take My Hand”, “New Kidz on the Block”, “Kill the Romeo” and “Crush”. 

After a thrilling kickoff, the members then took the time to introduce themselves and address their Singapore ZEROSE in their opening ment. The members mentioned how it was their first time here in Singapore and they even tried implementing some Singlish words in their ment with Hanbin saying “I love you lah”,  Gyuvin remarking that “Chilli crab is a die die must try” in Singapore, Zhanghao expressing that their fans were “so sweet lah” and Yujin commenting that the members were so “Steady lah”. Seeing how excited their fans were, they decided to tease them with small spoilers of their upcoming performances that they were going to bring, leaving fans extremely eager to proceed on with the concert.

Following their introduction, ZB1 launched into their next song “Crush” an energetic and playful anthem that captivated the audience. Paired with precise moments and intricate footwork, the members performed flawlessly along with the upbeat tempo of the song that left many impressed. 

While the members did an outfit change, the VCR break that kept fans entertained by featuring short quizzes and a sing along. ZB1 soon came back out on stage with their debut song “In Bloom” that features catchy melodies and engaging lyrics as it brought back a sense of nostalgia of how far they have come and grew since their debut. Flawlessly transitioning into “Insomnia” and “Goodnight” which is a soothing and heartfelt track accompanied with melodic instrumentation and tender lyrics while fans waved their lightsticks and camera’s flash according to the slow rhythm of the song. 

Following up was a solo performance by one of their chinese member Zhanghao with the song “Always” as he showcases his impressive vocal range and stage presence. The setlist also included several unit performances with songs from their survival show “Boys Planet” that prominently highlighted each member’s talents. Matthew, Gunwook, Jiwoong and Ricky captivated the audience’s hearts with a poignant song “Over Me”. The smooth instrumental backdrop coupled with a blend of subtle movements and a red ribbon as their prop added an eye catching visual element to their performance, making it more memorable for their fans as screams of exhilaration echoed throughout the venue. Meanwhile, the next unit performance was by Hanbin, Gyuvin, Taerae and Yujin with the song “Switch” that emphasized their versatility and musical style. Along with an enthralling choreography, each member shined with a unique flair. making it a standout moment in their repertoire. Afterwards, all 9 members gathered back onto the stage with the performance of the song “En Garde” that features different sharp dance moves highlighting their strong stage presence as they dominated the stage with confidence, leaving many fans in awe. 

After the intense performances the group brought onto the stage, they proceeded to engage their fans by praising that the flash during the song “Goodnight” resembled stars and the members were really touched to see so many fans being interactive with the songs that they were performing. ZB1 also brought up how they knew that fans were longing for the “En Garde” performance the most and how they hoped they would have enjoyed it. Zhanghao then did a “Jeojang” action cutely making the audience gush at him. They then continued the concert with the songs “Say my name” and “Here I am” (remix) bringing back memories when they were eagerly waiting to debut as they performed these songs during “Boys Planet” days as it was hard to imagine that a year ago they were competing in a survival show for a debut spot in the group. 

The VCR signaled a fresh set of outfit before coming back on stage again with the performance of “Dear Eclipse”. This song added a hint of mysteriousness combined with sharp movements with softer, lyrical sections as the members utilized a silver ribbon as part of their choreography and wrapped it around their neck while dancing. The group took a breather before moving on to the next song while Gunwook expressed his shyness to the audience about the “Dear Eclipse” choreography as it was towards the sexy side. The group’s next performance of “Hot Summer” highlighted the member’s charismatic energy and Matthew showed a glimpse of his body which left screaming in frenzy. 

Following these songs, the group then interacted with the audience again by mentioning how they seem to really like performances that involved the strings. They then did a sexy moment for every member as some members covered other group songs such as Gunwook doing Seventeen’s “Hot” while Yujin covered “Criminal” by Taemin. In addition, while Ricky was trying to do his “sexy movement” by dancing to “Dear Eclipse”  with the ribbon again, the members jokingly sang “Say My Name” to tease him while he commented that he has such unsupportive members playfully, adding a sense of humor into the show as the audience laughed at the group’s comical moments. They told their fans to let this moment last with them while sustaining this energy for the concert. After the sweet interaction with the audience, they then continued with the songs “Sweat”, “Kidz Zone” and “Feel the Pop”  as a burst of colorful confetti and balloons cascaded down to the audience.

After the performances, the members said how the fans sang along really well to the song “Feel the Pop”. Jiwoong suggested that they should make some eye contact with ZEROSE and the members went closer to the fans, waving at them while interacting with them. They even complimented ZEROSE asking why they are so pretty and even saying how they should pop the balloons to gain some fortune for the rest of the year. They further lifted the fans spirits by performing “Good so bad”, asking fans if they wanted to hear the song one more time each time the song came to an end. As the concert was coming towards an end, fans were a little unwilling as they echoed “Encore”. Singapore ZEROSE also took this opportunity to present their fan project to ZB1 as fans lifted their banners and sang along to the song “Our Season”  while waiting for the boys to appear up on stage with a fresh and comfy set of clothes and accessoried with adorable hats and sunglasses as they danced to “Yura Yura”. They praised the fans for singing so loudly as they could hear it backstage and acknowledged the banners that were specially curated for them. Gyuvin proceeded to ask the audience if they had seen the “Good so bad” challenge and it would be fun for ZEROSE to take on this dance together with ZB1. A few lucky and enthusiastic fans were chosen to dance with some of the members via the screen and even commended on how well they have executed the steps, saying that the fans killed the dance. This was followed by a photo-taking session where the boys did a total of three poses that included the heart, chili crab and lastly animal poses. The boys then went on with the performance of “And I” and “Sunday Ride”. 

As they wrapped up their concert with an ending ment, they requested for fans to make a wave using their lightsticks as a sea of blue illuminated the concert venue. The members soon expressed their gratitude while saying goodbyes to their Singapore fans. They explained how they had made many wonderful memories here in Singapore and they were really happy and thankful that Singapore was their first Asia stop. Furthermore, they never fail to remind their fans to have a good meal after the concert and take care of themselves well as the group promised that they will make a return to Singapore soon, hoping that they would be able to see Singapore ZEROSE again. The night concluded with a heartwarming song of “Hello” as they waved goodbye to their fans while serenading them with a ballad track.  

With this impressive kickoff to Zerobaseone’s [Timeless World] Asia Tour, they have proven to be one of the best performers in the Kpop act today. They showcased their undeniable talents, solidifying their status as rising Kpop stars, making them a group to watch as they break boundaries and elevate the game. As they continue their tour across Asia and beyond, one thing certain is that their electrifying performances and genuine passion will bring them further to greater heights and captivate their fans worldwide.
