Controversial Idol Booked For Drunk Driving For The Second Time

He is already under probation for previous drug charges.

Former WINNER member Nam Taehyun has been booked for drunk driving for the second time.

The Seoul Yongsan Police Station has stated to media outlet Newsis that Nam Taehyun was booked on violating the Road Traffic Act, specifically for driving under the influence of alcohol. They did not state what his blood alcohol level (BAC) was at the time, but noted that it was high enough to have his license revoked, which means it was higher than 0.08. Nam Taehyun is under suspicion of crashing into the median of the road while trying to overtake the car in front of him back on April 27, at around 4:10 am. No injuries were reported due to the crash.

The Yongsan Police Station applied for an arrest warrant for Nam Taehyun on May 2, but the request was denied on May 7 as they ruled there was not enough reason for an arrest. Instead, the police plan to send the case to prosecution soon.

Back in March 2023, Nam Taehyun was booked after being caught driving with a BAC of 0.114, above Korea’s legal limit. He was fined ₩6.00 million KRW (about $4,290 USD). In January 2024, he was sentenced to two years probation for his involvement in a drug abuse case. This means that he potentially has violated his probation, and could face a year in jail for his drug abuse case.
