Article: "Fan reactions to Jeon Soyeon’s producing group teaser"

Source: Pann

Original Tweet: "No matter what they're trying to imply, doing these kinds of performances with people born in '06-'08 is seriously problematic?"

Quote Tweet 1: "They're openly doing c*nd*m performances in music videos now."

Quote Tweet 2: "Jeon So-yeon should just do this kind of thing in her own solo album."

Quote Tweet 3: "Please, let's stop over-s*xualizing under the pretense of 'implying something.' It's good to s*xualize moderately, but if it's like this, it's already hard enough to live as a woman, and it just makes me really annoyed."

Quote Tweet 4: "What the f*ck is this? It's like dog sh*t. I can't understand the emotional sensitivity at all."

Quote Tweet 5: "Nowadays, does popular music have to be s*xual to be performed?"

Quote Tweet 6:"When did K-pop get so dirty? Everyone, stop watching pornography."

Quote Tweet 7: "Every time this happens, I constantly think I wish the idol industry would just collapse."

This is the reaction to the 'Baby DONT Cry' teaser that was released the day before yesterday and it’s not good. People are questioning why they’re doing this kind of concept when the members are so young (born between '06 and '08). There’s a lot of talk right now. Knowing Jeon Soyeon’s personality, this probably is meant to be a kind of viral marketing move but most people still say they don’t get it.

The only ones really defending it are international fans.

How did Jeon Soyeon end up like this, seriously? I’m genuinely curious are (G)I-DLE fans not unhappy about any of this? Even the pre-release track Baby Don’t Cry feels like a follow-up to 'GIRLFRIEND', it immediately reminded me of (G)I-DLE. At some point, (G)I-DLE just kept releasing songs with the same vibe, always about getting revenge on your boyfriend or that kind of storyline.

But when Baby Don’t Cry does that kind of concept too, as a casual listener, I’m just like… what even is this? Even when older idols did that concept, it didn’t always come across well — so seeing kids this young doing it makes it even more off-putting.

I’m really curious how people who are into idols feel about this.

  1. [+123, -7] That's the whole ‘stir up controversy and then go' < "I expected your reaction, but that’s not actually what it is" > that’s so Jeon Soyeon’s style. It’s probably that againㅋ
  2. [+65, -7] So… that was really a c*nd*m? Not a vitamin or something…? If it is a c*nd*m, that’s definitely a problem…

  3. [+62, -1] Every time Jeon Soyeon does a concept like this, I always think: Save it for your solo stuff~
  4. [+46, -0] They gave cutesy, refreshing songs to girls who are wearing maid outfits shaking their chests, but give this kind of concept to sprouting kids who are just starting to grow.
  5. [+41, -1] But why are they putting such a dirty image on a group full of pretty girls? They should be making them look even better, not dragging them down like this.
  6. [+27, -5] ㅋㅋㅋ But what’s hilarious about women-dominated communities is that they’re totally fine bashing girl idols born in like 2006–2008, judging their faces, bodies, throwing hate comments, but only when its stuff like this do they suddenly go, "Ugh, this concept is inappropriate for kids~" its hilarious. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ.
  7. [+33, -3] It's the level of this ㅋㅋㅋㅋ, just a manufactured drama

  8. [+30, -0] They blatantly went for it but the moment they were called out, they go, "Only someone with a dirty mind would see it that way," and made us out into the weird ones..
  9. [+29, -1] Doesn’t Jeon Soyeon also make songs for QWER? ㅋㅋ
  10. [+28, -0] She made a splash with the F-word in Tomboy, then muffled ‘Sh*t’ into ‘Shhhh’ and did wordplay like ‘puck’ or ‘puck stepping’ just to dodge censorship. Now, it's Jeon Soyeon only who doesn’t realize that this kind of homophone game just isn’t fun anymore.
  11. [+21, -0] Jeon Soyeon-ssi: This concept should've ended with Nxde.
  12. [+19, -0] If you say you’re criticizing a r*pist but then recreate a r*pe scene exactly as it is in a movie, is that really a criticism? It’s just depicting a r*pe like a display. Her whole style is always like this, and I really hate it. No matter what her intention was, it doesn’t come across properly — it’s just trash.
  13. [+18, -0] Reminds me of (G)I-DLE's controversial song lyrics describing oral s*x. -> That's not all, the eating the cherry on top of that, kissing it carefully, then boldly devouring (ow). Show me how it tastes (hey), I cook cream soup, taste is Coco Loco, Want me your wife but she is mm, mm, mm... yea
  14. [+13, -1] Miyeon said itㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋthat Jeon Soyeon's always been good at stirring up controversyㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋlike she's born for it 고ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
