KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 — Kim Jongin, better known as KAI, also famous as EXO’s dancing king, and heartthrob, officially launched his KAION tour in Kuala Lumpur — from jaw-dropping stages to fan-focused surprises, KL’s Mega Star Arena became a playground of vocals, visuals, and pure KAI charisma.
Even before the lights went down at 7:30 PM, the energy was electric. Fans with EXO lightsticks, buzzing with anticipation — and KAI delivered. This wasn’t just a concert. It was a three-part cinematic experience, and every chapter had us losing our minds.
Chapter 1: A Stranger In The Mirror
Dressed in a red ensemble, Kai came in HOT with “Sinner” and “Mmmh.” His choreography was razor-sharp as usual, his stage presence absolutely lethal. Songs like “Slidin’,” “Hello Stranger,” and “Ride or Die” showcased his duality — switching from seductive to powerful in seconds.
Greeting Malaysia EXO-Ls for the first time in 6 years, KAI mentioned that Malaysia has always been special to him, as EXO has always included Malaysia in their concert tours. But having been away for 6 years, everyone has changed, including himself.
He even shared his activity the day before, and fans swooned remembering the infamous pool photos that he shared. KAI also expressed his desire to come again to Malaysia for a holiday so keep a look out EXO-L!
Chapter 2: Reflections of Myself – EXO Feels & Velvet Vocals
Cue the blue suit and dreamy vibes. The EXO medley hit hard, whipping fans into a frenzy. KAI recreated the dance from his debut teaser, “My Lady”, complete with a car on the screen (as seen in the teaser). As the songs were instrumental, fans sang along, acting as a backup singer. But many stopped mid-song and when asked professed that they were mesmerized by the performance. The dance medley continues with the heartbreaking “Baby Don’t Cry” and “Angel”.
Then came the smooth waves of “Come In”, and “Vanilla”. Things got steamy with “Peaches”, playful with “Adult Swim” and emotional with “Wait On Me”, proving KAI’s versatility as a singer and dancer with a captivating range of expressions that perfectly matched eaci song. Every note proved KAI’s insane vocal versatility. We were swooning, vibing through all of it.
Chapter 3: When All Selves Become One
For the final act, KAI rocked in black jacket and came out swinging. “Bomba,” “Domino,” “Confession,” and “Reason” had the whole arena shaking. And when “ROVER” dropped? Chaos. Fans were chanting, and totally hypnotized. This was Kai at full power — a performer in total command of the stage.

Right before the encore, the mood shifted — it was time to party with the fans! A surprise Dance Challenge lit up the stage as lucky Malaysian EXO-L followed KAI’s choreo from the video clips shown on screen. Fans came together and did the wriggly dance to Adult Swim, and guess what? KAI was watching everything from backstage!
KAI hyped them up and everyone felt seen by their favourite idol. He praised the fans and wanted to do the challenge together, but unfortunately the production couldn’t supply the background music. No problem as EXO-Ls provided the music and KAI danced along.
Encore: Straight to the Feels
Just when we thought our hearts could not take more, KAI continued with an emotional encore. The soft beauty of “Blue” and the raw honesty of “To Be Honest” left the arena in emotional pieces. It was the perfect goodnight — intimate, powerful, unforgettable. Even Kai hesitated to end the concert, dragging himself to go backstage and leave the arena, with fans wanting more.
KAION KL: A Night to Remember
Lastly, thanks to CK Star Entertainment Malaysia for the invitation. The show ran smoothly and well-arranged, especially the organizer’s consideration in preparing more space for Muslim fans to pray. KL was lucky to witness this magic, and as KAI said, we will be re-watching the fancams, maybe kissing our screens, and counting the days until he comes back.
