Hellokpop: Hi YUQI. Congratulations on your first mini album, [YUQ1]! How would you describe this album in three words?

YUQI: YUQI, YUQI, YUQI. I think there’s no better way than “YUQI” to define myself since I wanted to express confidence in myself.

HKP: Can you share a little about the journey of creating [YUQ1] and what it means to you personally?

YUQI: It was a great opportunity to do all the concepts and songs that I always wanted. This whole album shows the real ‘YUQI’ itself.

HKP: As a talented singer-songwriter and producer, what inspired you the most when crafting the songs for [YUQ1]?

YUQI: This album is about real ‘YUQI,’ so most of my inspiration came from myself rather than other things.

HKP: Your pre-release track “Could It Be” has already captivated fans. Can you tell us more about the message behind this song and why you chose it to be the prelude to your album?

YUQI: This song was my solo song during our world tour last year, and I remember that a lot of our fans really liked this song. After our world tour, I wanted to release it but it took some time. When I was preparing for my solo album, I thought ‘Could It Be’ had to be the first track to be released.

HKP: Can you provide us with some insight into the concept and inspiration behind this particular song? What sets it apart from the other tracks on the album?

YUQI: This song really made me think a lot about how I achieved my dream during the [(G)I-DLE] world tour. My life has had many challenging times, but it has also given me the impression that there are far more positive parts than I had realized, like the lyrics, “Our life is more than we can imagine.”

HKP: Can you share any memorable behind-the-scenes moments from the making of [YUQ1] or the title track music video that fans might find interesting?

YUQI: I participated in many areas and expressed a wide range of thoughts during the album’s preparation. I learned a lot of insight from taking part in numerous meetings for the first time, which made me thrilled and pleased.

HKP: Are there any particular tracks on [YUQ1] that hold a special significance to you? If so, could you share which tracks and why?

YUQI: I can’t choose particular tracks on this album because every song holds significant meaning for me. I put a lot of effort and thought into every track, so they are all incredibly special to me.

HKP: With your diverse talents in singing, songwriting, producing, and dancing, which aspect of your solo work are you most excited for fans to see?

YUQI: I want my fans to see how much I enjoy this album and to see me looking happy during the performance. Through my performance, I hope to inspire and encourage others to live with more confidence.

HKP: How do you plan to bring your [YUQ1] to life on stage?

YUQI: Just be me!! The real me!! So please look forward to the performance on stage.

HKP: Amidst your busy schedule, what do you do to recharge and find inspiration for your music and performances?

YUQI: I’m trying to sleep as much as I can these days to recharge my energy. Looking back on yourself and being honest with me are the most important part of finding inspiration.

HKP: What are some of your aspirations or goals that you hope to achieve through your solo career?

YUQI: I want to be a recognized artist who remains uninfluenced by anything and always creates what I truly desire.

HKP: In addition to music, are there any other creative endeavors or projects you’re passionate about exploring in the future?

YUQI: Perhaps I might try acting. Also, it would be cool to be the director of the concert.
