DREAMCATCHER, the powerful seven-member K-Pop group called ‘the face of rock in K-Pop’, kicked off its U.S. leg of their “Luck Inside 7 Doors” tour at Kings Theatre in New York City last week.
Evolving from a five-member stereotypical girl group MINX, lead vocalist/dancer and visual JiU has led the group over the years and helpedds develop its unique sound. She is joined by main dancer SuA, main vocal SiYeon, sub vocalist HanDong, lead vocalist YooHyeon, main rapper DaMi, and the maknae GaHyun.
A pre-recorded VCR segment started the show, with the delicate visuals of each member dominating the venue. The mood immediately changed as the group quickly came on stage and launched into ‘OOTD’, led with a chant of “OOTD, this my fashion!”
DREAMCATCHER blended songs from its seven-year discography throughout the set, revisiting fan favorite songs as ‘Fairytale’, ‘Silent Night’, and ‘BOCA’, while also adding songs for their most recent comebacks ‘2 Rings’, ‘STΦMP!’ and ‘JUSTICE’. The group also performed new remixes, with the group stunning fans with an acapella intro to ‘Déjà Vu’ and remixed versions of ‘ The curse of the Spider’ and ‘Lullaby’.
Throughout the show, each member expressed their thanks for New York Insomnia who attended and continue to support the group as they return on a nearly annual basis. “I missed you, New York!” said YooHyeon, “I always look forward to coming back here.”
After New York, DREAMCATCHER continued its “Lucky Inside 7 Doors” tour with stops in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Oakland Calif., Houston, St. Petersburg Fla., and Atlanta.
Kpopmap received a photo pass and review ticket from MyMusicTaste, the promoters of DREAMCATCHER’s tour. It did not influence the coverage of this concert.
