(G)I-DLE‘s Minnie has opened up about her struggles with depression and panic attacks.

Recently, Minnie appeared on the YouTube channel WOODY, and spoke honestly about her experiences with depression and panic attacks.
COVID was a hard time for everyone, and Minnie explained that after performing without crowds for so long when they had a concert, she seemingly couldn’t adapt back to the conditions and panicked.
I was performing on stage. Suddenly I just felt like the eyes looking at me. I felt like ‘Why are they looking? What are they looking at?’

Minnie admitted that the group’s world tour was tough. Whenever she saw cameras on her, she wondered why they were filming and had constant voices of self-doubt inside her mind, including phrases like, “Get out of here,” “You shouldn’t be here,” and “This is not your place.”
The doubt continued, and Minnie relayed that it felt like she had an angel and devil battling against each other.
As the group traveled, it impacted Minnie more and at first, she didn’t tell anyone how she was feeling.
After telling her manager, they said she should see a doctor back in Korea, but it took a week for that to happen. But the thoughts still kept going through her head during this time.
When she finally saw the doctor, they asked why it had taken Minnie so long to see them, and the idol explained that the signs had been there for a long time, but they were overlooked.
The doctor explained that Minnie had depression, and while they said people tended to visit them often just to speak, Minnie pointed out that as an idol, she didn’t have the time.
Minnie explained how mental health is so important and how important it is to make time for it.
After getting emotional, Minnie explained how to not dwell on mistakes or things that might have happened in the past.
She also shared advice for people about being kind to themselves but also being careful about what you say to other people because you don’t know how it will impact them.
When the video came out, netizens praised Minnie for being so open about her mental health struggles, especially as a public figure and idol.
