A female idol who debuted as a member of a popular group five years ago is moving on to new things.

In 2020, Manabe Anju debuted as a member of NMB48, a Japanese girl group that is also a sister group of AKB48. Manabe Anju is currently the co-captain of NMB48’s Team M as well as a member of the NMB48 unit Chouzetsu KawaE.
Manabe Anju is a seventh-generation member of NMB48, meaning she is not part of the original 2011 lineup, but rather one of the members who joined after a previous member “graduated.” Unlike most K-Pop groups, some Japanese idol groups like NMB48 and AKB48 have a rotating member system that adds new members as old members leave.
On May 4, Manabe Anju announced her graduation during an NMB48 event. She will be leaving the group sometime this summer, though the exact dates have yet to be announced. Although she didn’t go into detail about her plans, she did assure fans that she intends to stay in the entertainment industry after her graduation and will continue to promote with her group until she officially graduates.
