Girls' Generation Hyoyeon is in hot water for a statement she made on the latest episode of her YouTube show "Hyo's Level Up."
On November 6, NCT Dream members Jeno, Haechan, and Jisung made an appearance on Hyoyeon's show, where they talked about various topics and shared a meal together.
By the time the video hit the 6:58 mark, Hyoyeon proudly said, "DREAM is SM's first million seller. Double million seller. Record holder as a triple million seller. Isn't that amazing?"
Jisung, seated across from her, was seen softly clapping his hands, visibly flattered by the praises. Jeno and Haechan also nodded lightly, as if in gratitude to the compliment.
Unfortunately, following the episode's airing, EXO-Ls took to social media to express their disappointment on Hyoyeon's statement.
EXO-Ls, who are also endearingly addressed by the EXO members as Eris, called out the SNSD singer's false claim that NCT Dream is SM Entertainment's first, double, and triple million seller.
They demanded to correct her statement, with a plethora of Eris letting out evidence of EXO's achievements.
Some fans also accused the agency of slowly trying to erase EXO's accomplishments and legacy.
One Eris wrote on X, "The EXO erasure is insane, especially when the Korean government itself recognized them as the first quadruple million seller and gave them medals."
"Trying to erase EXO's achievements and attribute them to another group shows your disrespect and stupidity," another fan said, adding, "but neither you nor anyone else can erase history. EXO is the first group to sell a million copies."
An EXO-L also stated, "Trying to erase EXO's achievements is crazy. Free my boys from these nasty people."
Following the backlash, Hyoyeon released an apology under the video, and finally corrected the subtitles.
