At a recent press conference, i-dle (formerly known as (G)I-DLE)’s Yuqi apologized for her comments about concert tickets that invited scathing backlash from K-Pop fans.

The press conference, held on May 19, 2025 (KST), was to celebrate i-dle’s new 8th mini album. During the conference, Yuqi faced her latest “controversy” surrounding a comment she made on Salon Drip.

Earlier the same month, Yuqi appeared on the YouTube show and expressed her frustrations with having to pay money for tickets to their own concerts.

When we perform in Thailand, all of Minnie’s family, friends, school seniors and juniors, and classmates gather in one place. It’s our concert, but we still have to buy the tickets with our own money, and I just don’t get that. To be precise, we only get four free tickets per person, and we have to pay for any extras ourselves.

This comment did not sit well with fans who thought the idol was out of touch with fans. When asked about the fan reactions, Yuqi acknowledged that she was pushing herself to be funny and that she crossed the line.

The idol apologized and noted that she was poking fun at her management company being “stingy,” as her teammate Soyeon nodded along in support.

Thank you for asking, and I would like to apologize.Whenever I appear on variety shows, I tend to be in a playful, high-energy mood. I think I was forcing it a bit too much that day. I hope people don’t misunderstand. It’s not that I wasn’t thinking about the fans. I was just trying to joke around when I was asked about putting the concert(s) together by making the company seem stingy.

I am well aware that our concerts would not be possible without our fans. What I intended was to nudge the company in a playful way. I can only hope this clears any misunderstandings. I did see the comments that the fans left. I realized that I had hurt their feelings. I’m truly sorry.

Yuqi went on to defend herself by adding that she always tries her best to keep her fans happy—and asked the press at the conference to be kind when covering her new comments on the matter.
