Recently, KATSEYE and ILLIT surprised fans by filming a couple of dance challenges together at The 2024 MAMA Awards in L.A.
One video uploaded by ILLIT’s social media account was Wonhee and Moka dancing with Yoonchae and Megan to Crayon Pop‘s “Bar Bar Bar.”
While many fans were excited to see the girls together, others couldn’t get past an odd censorship that occurred when they spun. Since the skirts were lifted, heart emojis were placed on the backs of three girls because of the short and exposing skirts.
Fans commented, wondering why it was necessary. Many emphasized the importance of safety shorts, as they would protect artists in real life and online.
Safety shorts, usually a pair of skin-tight biker shorts, are worn to prevent wardrobe malfunctions from happening during idols’ performances and other public appearances. These shorts are usually worn by female K-Pop idols who are performing in short skirts or shorts. Without them, the risk of accidental exposure is much higher, and idols could feel less comfortable in their outfits.
Some wondered why the censorship was even necessary for KATSEYE, as they have some different standards as a “global” girl group rather than K-Pop idol group. Although they’re under HYBE, they’re also under Geffen Records.
The members are known to wear outfits that expose their booty seemingly intentionally.
