Is It AI? Netizens Weigh In On Bombshell Kim Sae Ron Voice Recordings

Recently, audio recordings revealed by Garo Sero Institute show Kim Sae Ron discussing her relationship with Kim Soo Hyun.

On May 7, 2025, Bu Ji Seok, the legal representative of the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae Ron, and Kim Se Ui of Garo Sero Institute held a press conference in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. There, they shared an audio recording of Kim Sae Ron speaking to an acquaintance about her relationship with Kim Soo Hyun.

During the January 10, 2025, recording, Kim Sae Ron re-confirmed that she dated Kim Soo Hyun from middle school until she entered University. Later, after being asked if she was an adult when they first had sex, Kim Sae Ron states that it first occurred when she was in 8th grade.

Kim Sae Ron: The first time we did it was when I was in 8th grade, during the winter vacation.

Acquaintance A: Wow, 8th grade?

Kim Sae Ron: Even then… F***, thinking about it now, should I say that I was being taken advantage of?

While netizens have shared their disgust if these allegations are factual, some have discussed another possibility, involving AI.

AI, or artificial intelligence, can create a fake version of a person’s voice by analyzing recordings in a process called vocal cloning. This technology has been used in many ways, including by fans of artists to create fake song covers.

This has been very disputed in usage, even by artists themselves, and in this instance, could present reasonable doubt. Netizens discussed this possibility, with some questioning how this could affect the upcoming case.

• You could probably filter all of this out with an investigation.
• I swear on everything, I’m not a fan of Kim Soo-hyun, but Kim Soo-hyun is seriously gross — a criminal. Still, the way of speaking sounded a bit unnatural.
• It’s definitely not AI; it’s clearly a human voice. But the lines felt like they were narrating or explaining the situation… maybe because they knew it was being recorded? Still, if they faked that, the consequences in court would be huge — would they really have taken that risk?
• Again, I swear on everything, I’m absolutely 100000000% not a Kim Soo-hyun fan, but the recording itself does sound unnatural. Especially the line “He’s a total psycho” — he says it twice, and the tone is exactly the same both times.
