IU Delays Upcoming Tour and New Album After Health Concerns Worsen

Singer and actress IU has postponed her upcoming concerts and the release of her sixth full-length album after her chronic patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction worsened. The decision was made to prioritize her health and ensure she can return to fans in the best condition possible.

On July 21, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment announced that the schedule for the Goyang Stadium concert planned for September, future tour dates, and the release of her new album would be adjusted. The company explained that while IU's condition does not greatly affect her daily life, performing large-scale concerts requires a level of physical ability that she cannot currently maintain.

According to AllKPop, the agency stated, "The artist's condition is not severe enough to interfere with her daily life. However, this decision was made so she can present her performances in the best possible condition." It also promised full support for IU's treatment and recovery.

Patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction is a condition where the Eustachian tube, which connects the middle ear to the back of the nose, remains open when it should close. This can cause uncomfortable symptoms related to hearing and vocal control.

IU personally shared an update with fans through the communication platform Berriz, explaining why she could not continue with her planned performances.

"The symptoms of my patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction have been getting worse," she said. "The symptoms continue day and night, and I keep finding it difficult to regain my vocal condition whenever I sing."

IU Apologizes to Fans

Although IU has already completed recording her new album, she explained that live performances require much more physical effort. She shared that medical advice led her to postpone concerts for the time being, even though her daily activities remain mostly unaffected.

The singer also expressed disappointment toward fans who had been waiting for her return to the stage.

"My heart feels heavy, and I'm so sorry that I don't think I'll be able to keep my promise of holding concerts with my 8th-generation fan club members during this period," she wrote. IU assured fans that she is working toward recovery and hopes the wait will not be too long, TheChosun reported.

"I'll do everything I can to make sure the wait isn't too long and bring my new album and performances to UAENA as quickly as possible," she said.

She ended her message with hope for the future, promising to continue treatment and focus on improving her condition so she can reconnect with fans in 2027.

Meanwhile, IU continues taking legal action against malicious online posts. Her agency recently filed a request in a US court to identify anonymous individuals accused of spreading false and defamatory claims about the singer.
