Singer IU has continued her annual tradition of giving back during the holidays, this time chipping in 500 million won (~$340,000) to eight charities and hospitals.
IU's generous contribution was made in the name of fans under "IUaena," a combination of her stage name and her fan club Uaena, as announced by her agency EDAM Entertainment on the 25th.
The donation will benefit organizations such as Seoul Asan Medical Center, Seoul Child Welfare Association, Warm Accompaniment, and Together Smiling World.
Asan Medical Center supports senior citizens with financial difficulties, cancer patients, and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
The Seoul Child Welfare Association helps young adults without parents find their footing in society, while other recipients of the donation, including With World, help to improve the living conditions of people living in semi-basement and one-room homes.
IU is notorious for her frequent and copious donations to charities, including a donation of 225 million won (~$150,000) in September to celebrate the 16th anniversary of her debut album, also in the name of her fans.
The singer also recently prepared comped meals and hand warmers for protestors calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol after the politician enacted martial law.
