In particular, one of the controversial moments is the criticism of Selena Gomez’s Spanish in the show.
I’ll let Selena Gomez’s abysmal attempt at the Spanish language, in a movie that’s entirely in Spanish, speak for itself. pic.twitter.com/iXgfJjeAz6

Netizens shared their own thoughts about Super Junior going viral, including comparing the group’s respect and effort into the song to Emilia Perez.
for context, emilia perez is a really offensive film to mexicans (and LATAM countries), SG Spanish is A DISASTER, dialogues are incomprehensible 😭😭 SJ is being praised bc they really investigated Luis Miguel MV and their pronunciation & meaning is truly well conveyed https://t.co/Lqc3LHcYrb

as a mexican, who watched (and hated emilia perez) I can confirm Super Junior’s spanish is so good (specially Shindong, Siwon and Donghae) and even Kyu who is not in the mv, in the SS10 in mexico city he spoke a lot of spanish with an amazing pronunciation 💙

I’m from Latam. I watched clips of the Emilia Perez movie and I couldn’t understand Selena without subtitles. Suju’s Spanish however is perfectly understandable, especially Donghae, he sounds like a native speaker.

Super Junior is very popular in Latin America, having performed many times in South America, and has many songs with Latino influences, including the likes of “MAMACITA,” “One More Time” with Mexican group Reik, and “Lo Siento,” with Latin Grammy-nominee Leslie Grace.
