Imagine having to retire after winning first place on a music show for the first time as a soloist… well, that might be the future for Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk because of a pledge he made.

After 20 years in the industry, Eunhyuk finally made his solo debut.

On February 7, he appeared on Music Bank and ahead of his performance, which was nominated for first place, he did an interview with ILLIT‘s Minju and Moon Sang Min.

When it came to his pledge if he won first place, Eunhyuk had the MCs flustered as he said he would retire, with many assuming that the idol thought he wouldn’t win.

Eunhyuk performed his track UP N DOWN.

And when it came to the end of the show, he was shocked (with fellow Super Junior member Donghae) to find out he got first place… and would have to retire?

If it wasn’t funny enough, while Eunhyuk was giving his speech, Donghae was holding a sign that said retire.

After the music show ended, netizens shared how funny they thought the moment was.

  • LMAO 🤣 He (Donghae) is holding up a “Retire” sign.
  • Congrats on your retirement! (Just kidding)
  • WTF I came in to congratulate him, but now it feels like I shouldn’t be congratulating him. 😂😂😂
  • Uhh… Congratulations on your retirement~!!

Of course, retirement isn’t on the cards for Eunhyuk, but it proves that the Super Junior members never fail to be unserious.
