This is an odd coincidence, as SM Entertainment and HYBE Corporation have a close relationship. Back in March 2024, it was reported that HYBE purchased 104.3 billion KRW worth of shares of SM Entertainment after the company's founder, Lee Soo Man, decided to sell his shares.

Some joked that HYBE loves SM Entertainment so much, and called it a "one-sided love."

This is likely due to the fact that in March 2023, HYBE attempted to acquire a larger stake in SM Entertainment, but failed to do so after Kakao's successful tender offer upped its stake to 35%. HYBE was left with no choice, selling 44% of its shares in SM Entertainment to Kakao.
