As per the latest reports, Netflix has paid around ₩21.9 billion KRW (about $15.0 million USD) in bonuses to Sony Pictures as compensation for the success of K-pop Demon Hunters. With this payment, Sony Pictures’ final profit from the movie has climbed to a whopping USD 40 million, as it previously received around USD 25 million from the streaming platform in addition to the production cost of USD 100 million.

In addition, Netflix and Sony Pictures have reportedly signed a contract for the sequel to KPop Demon Hunters. According to the American outlet Variety, the two companies have signed an agreement to produce the sequel, with a 2029 release slated for the film after considering the longer production time required for animation.

Meanwhile, after recording over 300 million views, the highest for any Netflix movie to date, KPop Demon Hunters recently made yet another history after its original soundtrack “Golden” was announced to be nominated for a Grammy Award under the “Song of the Year” category.
