In the fan-taken video, clipped to a short three seconds, the fan refers to Kazuha as Suzy…

👤어? 뭐지? 저 팬싸장 잘못 찾아온 거 같아요
🍃어?왜?
👤ㅅㅈ님 아니에요??

…while Kazuha asks the fan to stop.

Fan: Wait, huh? Hold on… I think I’ve come to the wrong fan sign event.

Kazuha: Huh? What do you mean?

Fan: Aren’t you Suzy?

Kazuha: Oh, no. No, no. Don’t say that.

The video, otherwise capturing a cute interaction, has unexpectedly sparked some heavily divided reactions online. A post on theqoo has received over 81K views, with hundreds of K-Pop fans clashing in the comments.

Some believed it to be a harmless compliment, a common one at that—comparing idols to more iconic celebrities of their time, and accused others of being toxic toward Kazuha and LE SSERAFIM for no reason.

  • “I don’t get it. I’ve seen male idol fans do this all the time, comparing their biases to iconic celebrities, like ‘Oh, aren’t you so-and-so?’ And I thought it was a cute way to praise visuals. What’s wrong with this?”
  • “Isn’t it a common compliment? It’s impressive how far people will go to hate.”
  • “Well… I think it’s the associating Kazuha with one single star over and over again that’s being deemed an issue. But…”
  • “But fans do this. To tell their biases that they’re good-looking? Fans say, ‘OMG, aren’t you Kim Tae Hee?’ or ‘Aren’t you Kang Dong Won?’ It’s a known joke among K-Pop fans for complimenting idol visuals. What makes this different?”
  • “This is nothing. Stop hating.”

  • “I’ve seen TONS of male idol fans do this, comparing the members to good-looking actors. It’s just a K-Pop fan thing. There’s no reason to get so heated.”
  • “This is just some fan fun… AND Kazuha turns it down, too. So… Maybe don’t get too worked up over this.”
  • “Please, enough is enough. Why are people so worked up over this? Fans be like this all the time. It’s how they compliment their biases’ visuals. I’m so f*cking tired of this…”
  • “Wait, but I thought fans don’t like it when their biases are compared to other celebrities… Wasn’t that the case?”
  • “This is just some video from some fan sign capturing some fan’s interaction, shared to some X account. Like, it’s irrelevant, almost. Why are we turning something this small into such a big deal? Haters are so loud.”

Others believed it to be “a weird way to compliment an idol” and branded it disrespectful for all parties involved—Suzy and Kazuha.

  • “But like… At this point, you might as well just stan Suzy instead.”
  • “I don’t get how that’s a compliment at all. The fan is comparing Kazuha to another active idol and actress to her face…”
  • “Is it not possible for HYBE and its labels to produce and promote idols without bringing other celebrities into the picture? Stop the endless association. And their fans need to stop, too. It’s been going on too far. I think it’s important to consider if any of this is going to have a positive impact on Kazuha when all said and done.”

  • “Is that even a true fan? Like, wasn’t that entire conversation also incredibly rude to Kazuha as well?”
  • “Enough is enough…”
  • “So… who’s supposed to be feeling complimented at the end of this conversation? Hmm?”
  • “Has Kazuha always been pushing for that Suzy lookalike concept?”
  • “Ugh… Be for real.”

A handful of fans pointed out that, above all, it should be noted that Kazuha asked the fan to stop—and so LE SSERAFIM fans should prioritize leaving the comparisons behind.
