A new development has arisen in malicious YouTuber Sojang‘s legal cases.

According to reports, Sojang was ordered by the 12th Civil Division of the Seoul Western District Court to pay damages to BTS‘s V and Jungkook, along with Big Hit Music. Presiding Judge Lee Gwan Hyung ordered Sojang (also identified by her surname Park) to pay ₩51.0 million KRW (about $35,400 USD) plus late fees to Big Hit Music for legal fees.

The court ruled that Sojang would also pay ₩10.0 million KRW (about $6,940 USD) to V and ₩15.0 million KRW (about $10,400 USD) to Jungkook in damages for the impact on their reputations caused by the YouTube videos posted.
The amount initially sought was ₩90.0 million KRW (about $62,500 USD). Park became infamous in the K-Pop community for her videos spreading incessant rumors involving well-known celebrities. Between October 2021 and June 2023, she posted 23 videos involving seven celebrities and influencers. According to the prosecution’s findings, she racked up a revenue of ₩250 million KRW (about $174,000 USD) from this channel in two years since June 2021.
Sojang was previously sentenced to two years in prison with three years’ probation for defaming multiple celebrities. The court also ordered her to pay a fine of ₩210 million KRW (about $146,000 USD) and complete 120 hours of community service.
