Be careful what you wish for—especially when it comes with a price. Netflix has locked in April 24 as the global debut of If Wishes Could Kill, its first Korean YA horror series, and teased fans with a spine-tingling trailer and poster.

At the heart of the story is “Girigo,” a mysterious app that grants wishes—but demands something deadly in return. Blending high school life with occult horror, the series follows five students at Seorin High School whose ordinary days spiral into terror when their wishes begin to come true under sinister conditions.

Jeon So-young, Kang Mi-na, Baek Sun-ho, Hyun Woo-seok, and Lee Hyo-je star as the tight-knit group of friends whose bond is tested as fear, secrets, and a ticking 24-hour countdown close in on them.

Directed by Park Youn-seo—known for his work on Kingdom Season 2 and Moving—and written by Park Joong-seop, the series builds an eerie atmosphere where even the most familiar spaces feel threatening.

The trailer shifts from playful curiosity to full-blown dread as wishes are granted, a mysterious timer appears, and unexplainable horrors unfold. As panic escalates, ritual scenes featuring Jeon So-nee and Roh Jae-won hint at a desperate attempt to break Girigo’s deadly curse before time runs out.

With its mix of suspense, supernatural elements, and emotional storytelling about friendship and growth, If Wishes Could Kill marks a bold expansion of Netflix’s Korean lineup—venturing into YA horror with a fresh, rising cast.

If Wishes Could Kill premieres April 24, exclusively on Netflix.
