Get ready to put it on repeat— ONE OR EIGHT just dropped “DSTM,” a bold reimagining of Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop The Music.”

On March 19, Japanese boy group ONE OR EIGHT dropped their latest single, “DSTM,” marking the first official sample of Rihanna’s global hit “Don’t Stop The Music.” Infused with their signature energy, the track blends catchy rap, melodic hooks, and smooth hip-hop beats, offering a fresh take on the classic.

Produced by Stargate—the legendary producer behind the original hit and an R&B pioneer—“DSTM” was crafted in collaboration with young American songwriters. While staying true to the essence of the original, the track has been reimagined with a modern twist, aligning with today’s music landscape.

A Sci-Fi Inspired Music Video

Alongside the release, ONE OR EIGHT unveiled a visually stunning music video set in a futuristic city where technology has erased the essence of music and art. The group embarks on a high-stakes mission to restore music, venturing into parallel worlds.

The video was directed by Glenn Michael (VMA-nominated, The Chainsmokers, The Weeknd) and edited by Mykyta Bereg (Madonna, Tyla Yaweh, Yeat, David Guetta). Visual effects were brought to life by Gianluigi Carella of Impossible Objects, known for his work with Disney, Warner Brothers, and Nike. The result? A fully VFX-driven spectacle that pushes the boundaries of a traditional music video.

Recognition at MTV VMAJ and Rising Global Influence

At the MTV VMAJ, ONE OR EIGHT was honored with the “Upcoming Dance & Vocal Group” award, recognizing their rising influence in the music scene. They also delivered a high-energy performance of “DSTM,” electrifying the audience.

The group has also been named one of Nikkei Entertainment!’s “100 New Stars of 2025,” cementing their status as one of the most anticipated breakout acts of the year.

TSUBASA & Stargate on “DSTM”

Speaking on the release, TSUBASA shared:

“I was so excited when I first heard the demo for ‘DSTM,’ but I was also a little nervous—Rihanna’s ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ is so iconic and beloved. I hope this song inspires everyone to keep chasing their dreams, just like it inspires us.”

Producer Stargate reflected on the collaboration:

“When ONE OR EIGHT wanted to reimagine ‘Don’t Stop The Music,’ we were all in. They brought their own unique energy and personality, making it their own. The fact that ONE OR EIGHT is Japanese, Rihanna is Bajan, the hook originates from Cameroon, and we’re Norwegian—just proves that music truly brings people together.”
