A promotional video for one of Thailand’s most popular GL duos has sparked major plagiarism accusations from fans, who noticed its striking similarities with a recent video from popular subunit Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi.
| SM EntertainmentEarlier this month, Channel 3 Thailand released a promotional clip for the highly anticipated HER & HERS LINGORM 1st FANCON featuring Thai actresses Sirilak “Lingling” Kwong and Kornnaphat “Orm” Sethratanapong — the beloved duo also known as “LingOrm.”
| Ch3Thailand/YouTubeThe pair first rose to fame in the 2024 Thai drama The Secret of Us and starred in a second project, Only You, this year.
However, K-Pop fans were quick to notice that the video bore uncanny resemblances to Irene & Seulgi’s “brand film” for their comeback “TILT,” released in May this year.
| Red Velvet/YouTubeBoth clips open with nearly identical shots of their respective stars in black and white, complete with similar shadows cast dramatically across their faces. The videos then alternate between monochrome close-ups and red-tinted imagery. In the video for “TILT,” for example, a thicket of flowers on fire appears at the exact same timestamp as a lighter flame and a rose in LingOrm’s clip.

Framing and poses in LingOrm’s duo shots also appear to have been copied from another promotional clip for “TILT.” Not long after the video’s release, fans called out Channel 3 Thailand on social media for what many viewed as blatant copying.

The company has since issued a statement acknowledging the similarities between the two videos and apologizing to Irene, Seulgi, and their creative team for the oversight. Channel 3 Thailand claimed that they were unaware of the close resemblance and that the production team was responsible for the concept.

However, many fans remain unsatisfied with the response, criticizing the company for attempting to shift responsibility with a simple apology.
Unintentionally? This is blatant plagiarism. You owe them much more than an apology, because doing something like this goes against professional ethics, and the team that worked on and developed this concept deserves to be properly credited. @RVsmtown pic.twitter.com/WPqPs3zfKq https://t.co/CGMbg5eqsF

Prior to its release, “TILT” drew both positive and negative attention from international and Korean netizens for its bold themes. The concept built on the subunit’s 2020 debut with “Monster,” which reportedly took inspiration from lesbian media such as Carmilla and The Handmaiden.
