UNIS, a fast-rising GenZ K-pop group, held an engaging mediacon to build excitement for their upcoming 1st Philippine Fan Concert, titled UNIS in CURIOUSland.
The fan concert is scheduled for two back-to-back performances in the Philippines: Manila at the New Frontier Theater on October 25, and Cebu at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel on October 26. Their Filipino fans have eagerly awaited this event since UNIS’s last visit in May, and the press conference only heightened the anticipation.
UNIS opened the event with warm greetings and expressed their heartfelt support for the Filipino people, acknowledging the challenges brought by Typhoon Kristine (Trami). The storm has affected millions of Filipino families, and in a gesture of solidarity and empathy, UNIS’s leader Hyeonju announced that a portion of the proceeds from the Manila concert would be directed to relief efforts for the typhoon victims. This news was met with appreciation from both the media and fans, underscoring the group’s genuine connection with their Philippine fanbase.
During the press conference, UNIS engaged in a lively Q&A session, with each member eagerly responding to both pre-approved and spontaneous questions from the media. When asked about their feelings on returning to the Philippines, Filipino member Gehlee shared her enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to be back so soon after our fan meeting in May, where we made unforgettable memories. I feel confident in saying we’ve grown a lot since then.” She recalled the overwhelming support UNIS received during their first fansign event in the Philippines, which took place from May 4 to 6, just two months after their debut. The fansign left a lasting impression on the group, and the members credited it as a motivating factor that contributed to their rapid growth in the months that followed.
Another highlight of the press conference came when Yunha spoke candidly about the group’s ambitions for the future. Reflecting the group’s larger vision, Yunha shared, “Our goal is to promote UNIS to a wider audience. We hope that when people hear our name, they’ll see us as a group that truly represents our generation.” Her remarks conveyed a sense of purpose and optimism, revealing that the members of UNIS view their music as a means of connecting with and representing the experiences and dreams of their peers around the world.
The members went on to share their top three favorite songs to perform live: “Curious,” “Dopamine,” and their debut single, “Superwoman”. Each song holds a special place for them, with Superwoman marking the beginning of their journey as artists, Curious encapsulating their youthful energy and curiosity, and Dopamine highlighting the group’s lively and upbeat style. Throughout the event, they expressed sincere gratitude for the enthusiastic support from their Filipino fans and emphasized their commitment to creating memorable experiences with each visit.
To wrap up the event, UNIS surprised attendees with a preview of their fan concert setlist. UNIS performed their latest single, “CURIOUS”, a song that reflects their evolving style and captures their journey of self-discovery. Vibrant and magnetic, the performance provided a taste of the high-energy concert that fans can look forward to. To end on an even higher note, they delivered an encore of “POPPIN’”, a popular track from their most recent album, which brought the room to life and left fans eager for more.
The conference showcased the unique blend of talent, charisma, and genuine connection that UNIS brings to their performances. Their upcoming Philippine Fan Concert promises not only to be a memorable event for their fans but also a meaningful contribution to the local community in a time of need.
