SM Entertainment‘s new girl group, Hearts2Hearts, showed up at Gimpo International Airport on March 29, 2025 (KST) to catch their flight to Tokyo to attend “The Performance 2025.” But during what should have been an exciting departure, the members found themselves in a heated moment with a disgruntled traveler also using the airport—all of which ended up being streamed via the Korean press Newsen‘s airport lives.

As K-Pop idol airport departures go, Hearts2Hearts members were also surrounded by their security guards, airport personnel, press, and fans as they walked through the airport terminal.

Then, a traveler from outside the camera frame started shouting—soon escalating to cursing out the girl group members and their staff and fans. From what was audible, the traveler expressed anger at the commotion caused by the girl group’s presence at the airport.

What the f*ck, man! People are going to get hurt, you f*ckers! You sh*theads! [Continues cursing]

You could hurt the little kids, a*sholes! We need to depart, too, f*cking b*stards!

— Agitated Airport User

As the shouting becomes more and more explicit, the video goes mute before ending with the person behind the camera commenting on how “hostile” it got.

Damn… That was hostile. Things got really hostile there.

— Newsen Reporter

When the video was shared via Newsen‘s YouTube channel, the heated moment garnered attention and soon sparked an online debate over the traveler’s behavior, the girl group members and staff’s reactions, and, ultimately, the strange culture of airport sendoffs. While some thought the language was vulgar, most related with the traveler’s sentiment and said mentioned the need for real change.

  • “Like, who even are they?”
  • “Agreed.”
  • “Do they think they’re royalty or something? Telling people to move aside—what a joke. They’re total nugu, but look at them with their heads held high.”
  • “It’s frustrating when an idol departs, and the whole entourage—reporters, sasaengs, security—blocks the way. Sasaengs are just insane, so nothing can be done about them, but at least reporters shouldn’t be invited.”
  • “Do they own the airport or something? Like, if they cause that much inconvenience, they should be charged ₩100 million KRW (about $68,000 USD) per use and compensate the affected travelers with ₩1.00 million KRW (about $680 USD) each.”
  • “Seriously, why do celebrities act so high and mighty?”
  • “Please, celebrities… Just depart and arrive quietly. All of those people totally deserve the criticism. The reporters and agencies should be fined heavily.”
  • “But why don’t they at least apologize or say something instead of just staring?”
  • “It’s the managers at these airports yelling ‘Move aside! Get out of the way!’ that I find an absolute joke.”
  • “It looks like the members got scared because of the cursing… Do we really want to be criticizing them like this?”
