SBS survival show Universe League has been beefing with fandoms (primarily VIXX’s) over their mission song called “Prison” for a couple weeks.
I didn’t really notice it a ton cause the “homage” seemed rather obvious but apparently it’s still going on.

— Asian Junkie (@asianjunkiecom) December 29, 2024The similarities being cited are mostly between it and VIXX’s “ERROR”, though as mentioned, I hear some BEAST’s “Fiction” and BIGBANG’s “Monster” (H/T: TheBiasList) as well.
VIXX fans are basically just arguing it goes beyond any kind of tribute, as even the choreo and tonal elements are similar, asking the show and producers for credit, basically.

Gonna be honest, I don’t know if it’s legally actionable or not, so I’m not gonna get into that. I will say it’s pretty clearly inspired by a bunch of older boy group songs and “ERROR” in particular.
Well … I guess this is one way to bring back that older sound to K-pop at least?
Other than that, I just really wanted an excuse to post about the three songs in question.
