South Korean ballad trio SeeYa, consisting of members Nam Gyu-ri, Kim Yeon-ji, and Lee Bo-ram, has officially announced its full-group reunion after 15 years apart, with plans to release new music and hold fan events to celebrate the group's 20th debut anniversary.
The group revealed on Mar. 12 that it will drop a pre-release single within March, hold a fan meeting in Seoul, and release a full-length album in May. SeeYa originally debuted on Mar. 12, 2006, making this announcement fall exactly on the 20th anniversary of their first release.
"To mark the meaningful 20th anniversary of SeeYa, we have reunited with one heart for our fans," the three members said in a joint statement. "After long discussions, the members decided to repay the fans who waited for 20 years," allkpop.
The pre-release single set for March will be an emotional ballad that reflects the meaning of their 20-year journey and reunion.
All three members participated in writing lyrics for the track, which delivers a message of love and gratitude to longtime fans. A fan meeting will be held at a venue called Idols in Seoul's Jongno District on the same day the single drops.
The full album, expected in May, will feature producers Park Geun-tae and Kim Do-hoon, both of whom worked with SeeYa during the group's peak years in the mid-to-late 2000s. Several tracks on the album will also include lyrics written by the members themselves.
Since each member is currently signed to a different agency, the trio plans to establish a project corporation under the name "SeeYa" to independently manage the group's activities going forward, chosun reported.
The members emphasized that this comeback is not simply a trip down memory lane. "This reunion is not merely a nostalgic trip but a new beginning as artists," they said. "This time, we want to present SeeYa's music that we truly want to create, not relying on past formulas or others' decisions."
SeeYa first rose to fame after debuting in 2006 with hit ballads such as "A Woman's Scent," "Love's Greeting," "Shoes," and "Crazy Love Song." The group won multiple rookie awards in their debut year and took home the Golden Disc Awards' digital music category in 2007. They officially disbanded in January 2011.
Fans have long hoped for a reunion. The three members briefly appeared together on JTBC's "Sugar Man 3" in 2020, raising expectations for a comeback, but it fell through at the time due to internal circumstances.
With the reunion now confirmed, attention across the Korean music industry is focused on what SeeYa will deliver as they begin this new chapter, as per Sports Khan.
