SM Entertainment Idol Feels Burdened By His Own Name

An SM Entertainment idol has revealed that he wanted a stage name when he debuted, as he felt burdened by his own name.

Recently, the YouTube variety show Sana’s Fridge Interview released a video titled “The Return of the Introverted Hunter,” featuring RIIZE‘s Wonbin, who caught the attention of K-pop fans with his appearance matching his name at the time of his debut.

However, Wonbin had a different perspective. Until he was in school, he had no particular thoughts, but once his debut was decided, he became worried. Wonbin said, “When I debuted, actor Won Bin was so famous and well-known for being handsome that I once said I couldn’t debut under the name ‘Wonbin’ myself,” adding, “It was such a burden.”

He said, “I was afraid people might criticize me a lot. It was really such a burden that I wanted to debut under a different name,” and revealed the stage name he came up with, “Alex,” which brought laughter.
