Featuring a powerhouse cast, including fan favorites Ryu Seung Ryong, Yang Se Jong, and Im Soo Jung, Low Life launches July 16 on Disney+.

Set in the sun-drenched year of 1977, this highly anticipated series promises a captivating tale of hardworking, salt-of-the-earth “country bumpkins” who unite with a singular goal: unearthing a legendary treasure ship buried deep beneath the waves. The creative synergy behind this project is undeniable, with director Kang Yoon-seong, the visionary behind hits like “Casino” and “The Outlaws,” joining forces with writer Yoon Tae-ho, known for his compelling narratives in popular webtoons such as Misaeng and Inside Men.

Ryu Seung Ryong, fresh off his triumphs in Disney+’s Moving and the blockbuster film Extreme Jobs, commands the screen as Oh Gwan-seok, the charismatic leader of this unlikely treasure-hunting crew.

Joining him is Yang Se Jong, whose unique charm from Doo-=na!, My Country, and Temperature of Love will infuse life into Oh Hee-dong, Gwan-seok’s nephew and fellow fortune-seeker.

Adding a fierce, no-nonsense edge is Im Soo Jung, whose versatile acting range, seen in films like Single in Seoul and All About My Wife, and dramas such as Melancholia and Search: WWW, will shine as Yang Jeong-suk, the shrewd mistress of Heungbaek Industry, a woman who truly understands the language of money.

The stellar cast expands even further with a lineup of seasoned veterans boasting impeccable acting chops, including Kim Eui-sung, Kim Seong-oh, Hong Ki-joon, Jang Gwang, Kim Jong-soo, Woo Hyeon, Lee Dong-hwi, Jung Yoon-ho, Lim Hyeong-jun, Lee Sang-jin, and Kim Min. Their combined talent, alongside a wave of fresh new faces, guarantees an electric and dynamic ensemble performance.

The recently unveiled departure poster instantly grabs attention with its majestic scale and the mesmerizing deep blue of the ocean. The intriguing tagline, “1977, off the coast of Sinan, the smell of money comes from the sea,” accompanying an image of a ship adrift on the vast expanse surrounded by hopeful figures, teases the unpredictable journey awaiting these money-scented country folk, sparking immense curiosity.

Low Life promises to be an intriguing exploration of human desire and greed, as a myriad of tangled characters vie for instant riches. The 11-episode saga kicks off with Episode 3 on July 16, followed by two episodes released each week on July 23, July 30, August 6, and wrapping up on August 13.
