The Recording Academy is the organization of musicians, producers, recording engineers, and other musical professionals behind the annual Grammy Awards. Recently, via the Grammys website, a list titled 10 K-Pop Songs That Electrified 2024 honored ten K-Pop groups that had the “coolest, most innovative K-pop songs of 2024.

The list (in no order) included tracks like aespa‘s “Supernova,” ZEROBASEONE‘s “Good So Bad,” and Baekhyun‘s “Pineapple Slice.”

Many artists on the list either got their start under large labels like SM Entertainment or had their creation involve a major network like Mnet. While this is not a measure of their talent, nor does it point to favoritism, one group has stood out for “unexpectedly” being included in the list.

In March 2024, MUZE Entertainment debuted its first girl group, RESCENE.

The five-membered girl group made up of Woni, Liv, Minami, May, and Zena, is multi-national, with Japanese member Minami having competed on the survival show My Teenage Girl. Member Zena also might have a familiar appearance to some, as she was the visual model for the virtual girl group MAVE: and competed on the survival show Stars Awakening.

RESCENE are considered to be a “nugu” or lesser-known group that has not quite reached the commercial success they are deserving of. The group have been featured on a popular account dedicated to these kinds of groups.

Since their single album debut, RESCENE has released one mini-album featuring the title track “Love Attack,” which is the song that was included in the list, and Japanese digital singles.

Hopefully, the group’s inclusion on this list will only lead to good things as fans express their excitement!
