ive kinda come to realize im a serial monogamist, ive jumped from one 3 year relationship to a 2.5 year one during the most formative years of my adult life (my early 20s) and i realize now how deeply it stunted me.

i cant help but wonder though, *would* it have been better if i had done that earlier when my heart and time could handle it? ive now sorta re-emerged into the dating scene, and if anything, i feel sorta fragile. everyone seems to have had dated more than they’ve been partnered, whereas ive been partnered longer than ive dated. im worried of being hit with these overdue canon events others have went through and not even having youth and abundance of choice on my side anymore.

The new album reviews are definitely proving popular! Livestreams are the least popular, which is unsurprising. However Nugu Alert charting above the boobs posts and equal to objectification survey results? My own data disproves that, but then this statistic might be skewed by the fact that the posts that drive the most traffic may not necessarily be the ones that regular readers who might be compelled to fill out the survey also enjoy.

Question 4: Favourite consumable item that is sung about in k-pop songs and definitely isn’t sexual?

Ice cream and cookies were the big winners in the food survey. Spaghetti was notably unpopular, I guess Kpopalypse readers didn’t “eat it eat it up”.

Monthly streaming seems sensible to me BUT the minority of readers who actually tune into the streams really do appreciate them being weekly. So I’m not doing to be changing anything here at least for the rest of 2026. I might revisit this question in a future survey.

Question 9: Sufferers of OCD, take the necessary steps to gain mastery over your condition here. Please pick a number between 6 and 9. If this question traumatises you too much you can skip it.

Readers were given checkboxes where they were only allowed to pick a number between 1 and 5 in response. Most of you picked the number 3, perhaps because 6 and 9 are multiples of 3 so this might have been a partial compliance strategy by OCD addicts.

It’s also been providing a whole new audience of readers horrified by Kpopalypse content, until they come here properly and discover that this is actually a much kinder and nicer place than the hive-minded cruelty k-pop social networking has become in 2026. For some reason one of my neighbours did a pigeon cull. It doesn’t seem to have been very effective because we still have lots of pigeons, except that now some of them have broken wings and don’t fly anymore so they’re ground pigeons now. This pigeon here (which my girlfriend has named “Pedro”) is one such pigeon, who doesn’t fly anymore (you’ll notice his right wing is hanging oddly low) and just sort of wanders around our neighbourhood on foot now. Only 35% of readers felt that Kpopalypse repeated content a lot. The other readers probably didn’t remember that this exactly same question is a repeat from the same survey 12 months ago.

Nah it’s all good, it’s better that the people doing my surveys are people who actually visit the site or at least care about the k-pops somehow. I don’t think my surveys would even make a lot of sense to someone who just turned up here as a random part of a survey swap scheme.

I have been a reader for over 10 years. I don’t visit the site as often as I used to. It has nothing to do with your writing, but just K-pop music no longer has the same attraction for me that it once did. It is not that I am “over it”. I still love the music from about the 2008-2016 era. I have not really changed in my music tastes, but the music has changed.

It feels like it is part of the same overall enshittification that affects everything when big corporate moneyed interests really try to squeeze all of the profit out of everything, and they have “solved” the problem of how to maximize those profits at the expense of entertainment value.

Unlike some people, I pay for my music downloads (Apple iTunes) and listen to them on my phone. It has been about 2 years since I have found anything worth buying. I have over 24 hours of purchased songs in my library that I actually listen to, but almost all of it is from that golden era.

I keep hoping that the trends will revert to those times, but I think it’s a lost cause by now.

Yes pop music does change over time. The good news is that I think a second-gen resurgence is building, I’ve noticed it with some recent releases. I recommend that you keep in tune to roundups and also check out the 2025 favourites list!

Also I do want to buy one or some of your books because you are an evocative writer, so I have high expectations. A lot of people are not willing to take any criticism at all and they are easily offended and then they are like dang you like this guy? What’s wrong with you? And I’m like hmm what’s wrong with you, seems like you don’t have any media literacy skills. But of course I don’t say that because what is the point of talking to that person anymore when they have categorized me as a hater. Once I thought I had a good friend and then I showed them Kpopalypse and they were disgusted. It made me reevaluate the friendship, and then the friendship sort of petered out. So I guess you are a good litmus test oppar!

If you’re able to discern which of your friends are actually intelligent and which of them are superficial just by letting them know you read my content, I think that’s excellent and actually a great use for it.

It would be nice to see some low effort (as if your content not low effort already), but fun content on utube channel occasionally (or never). Maybe mimic popular formats, like reaction videos, album unboxing, etc., but with satirical, cynical attitude (whatever describes Kpopalypse writing “style”).
K-pop is a multi-modal experience, but Kpopalypse is almost exclusively about MVs of the week and some positive posts. What about other content (variety) that k- poop fans consume? It would(n’t) be nice to see some commentary on those things sparingly.
However how can a reader know what content they want to see? Entertainment companies know what fans would like to buy/stream. Kpopalypse should know better than to rely on surveys.

I won’t do reaction videos because there’s no way to prove the reactions are genuine. My livestreams do come close to that though, but since they’re the most unpopular content that I do, somehow I don’t think reaction videos is it. But who knows? She’s great, I think her surgery is relatively subtle for a JAV star. If you wanted busted-ass surgery there are plenty of worse offenders, like literally every second JAV star has generic-ass surgery-enhanced “JAV face”, slightly different but similar to the generic ass surgery-enhanced “k-pop face” that a lot of the bigger Korean idols have. Ichika doesn’t look like that at all, with or without surgery she at least looks different. And honestly it’s her “performance attitude” that makes her such a great JAV star, not anything to do with her actual appearance.

As a longtime reader (and I mean on and off since a couple of years after you started blogging) the effects of TikTok usage have started to take hold on you, which is alarming since if *you* aren’t immune there’s no hope for humanity. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand BTS’ musicality. I notice that several of the JAV titles involve extremely large cup sizes such as J-, K-, L-, etc. Do they actually have such bizarrely massive organs or is it more of just a marketing phrase?

They are real sizes, but cup sizes in Japan work pretty differently to other countries because Japanese women are on average smaller so cup sizes are adjusted to suit. So a lot of them aren’t really that busty, and also some people tend to look bustier on camera than they really are just due to their overall proportions anyway. You see this effect in k-pop too, Jessi for instance is someone who people would assume has large boobs especially as she’s quite open about the surgery she’s had, but she’s only a B-cup by western standards.

Oppar I got some really annoying feedback this week from my boss that x department doesn’t respect me. If you can’t be respected, being hated is an acceptable subsitute. Don’t even sweat it. Not everybody is going to like you. Shrug it off and keep doing your thing, don’t worry if you do good work and they don’t it will be noticed.
