Legendary K-Pop soloist BoA recently shared a candid and comical story about her relationship with SM Entertainment founder Lee Sooman during an episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros.

BoA admitted she was initially hesitant to accept the casting offer to appear on the variety show. The reason? A past disagreement with Lee Sooman related to her previous appearance on the show.
“When I was offered the appearance this time, I had a conversation with Teacher Lee Sooman. He said ‘You were really boring the last time you went on. If you’re going on a show like that, you should at least prepare an impression or a dance.’”
She then dropped the kicker and admitted that she ended up arguing with him until 4am because of it.
Super Junior’s Kim Heechul, also an SM Entertainment artist, added more color to the story, describing the two as having a father-daughter dynamic.
“When BoA got annoyed and said, ‘I’m not going on the show!’ Lee Soo-man responded, ‘Why are you sulking again?’ And then BoA shot back, ‘I said I’m not going!’ They kept going at it.”
He also mimicked the reaction of producer Yoo Young Jin who, caught in the middle, could only shake and sip his drink in silence.
BoA is one of SM Entertainment’s most beloved artists and one of the K-Pop stars who paved the way in the earlier generations. She is now a director at SM Entertainment.
