Did ghosts really appear during the filming of EXO's hit track, "Growl"? Learn more about the spooky stories the members experienced behind the scenes!

In 2013, the "Nation's Pick" boy group debuted with now one of K-pop's most iconic songs, "Growl," which elevated their status in the Korean music scene. Aside from its addictive lyrics and melody, it also became the talk of the town for its music video filmed in a single take.

As the MV earned massive attention, some keen-eyed viewers experienced an eerie feeling watching it as they claimed to spot a "ghost" caught by the camera.

In the video, an image of a faceless man hiding in the dark was seen standing behind a transparent glass window. This immediately raised suspicions that it could be a ghost, due to the location where it was filmed.

In particular, to film the MV, EXO members, and the crew traveled to Shindongsin Industrial High School in Seoul and used its warehouse. The school is infamous for its haunted and terrible background for its frequent record of bullying and students taking their own lives due to school pressure.

Prior to using the warehouse, it was abandoned for 7 years after three students committed suicide together in the past and even some of the school staff were hesitant to lend it to them.

The group filmed from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., in which the members themselves experienced spine-chilling encounters.

For Sehun, he heard his mother telling him to wake up. Xiumin, on the other hand, felt sleepy all the time despite trying so hard to fight it.

Luhan was then certain that he saw people inside the warehouse before they came, while Chanyeol claimed to have seen Baekhyun's doppelganger when the real one was with D.O. the whole time.

When this story circulated, a lot of people watched to confirm if it was a ghost, and while some believed it so, the truth was explained by EXO themselves that the entity was actually not a ghost, but an SM staff!

Looking closely, the "ghost" was seen with a water bottle, and he was accidentally included in the take as he was not aware that he would be seen in the camera.

The ghost story, which scared every EXO-Ls in 2013, turned out to be just a camera mishap!
