“UDT: Our Neighborhood Task Force” Gears Up for Action—Coupang Play and Genie TV Confirm Production and All-Star Cast

Coupang Play and Genie TV are gearing up for their new original series, “UDT: Our Neighborhood Task Force,” with production finalized and filming officially underway this June. This highly anticipated action-comedy promises a unique take on special forces, focusing on a group of reserve soldiers who reunite not for national security, but to protect their families and local community.

The series boasts a talented ensemble cast. Yoon Kye-sang (known for “The Outlaws”) plays Choi Kang, an insurance investigator with a secret past as a JDD special forces operative. Rejoining Yoon Kye-sang from “The Outlaws” is Jin Seon-kyu, who takes on the role of Kwak Byung-nam, a former HID counter-terrorism unit member now running a hardware and stationery store and leading the local youth association. Their reunion is expected to deliver another round of their dynamic on-screen chemistry.

Rounding out the cast are Kim Ji-hyun as Jeong Nam-yeon, owner of “Mammoth Mart”; Go Kyu-pil as Lee Yong-hee, director of a special forces martial arts dojang; and Lee Jung-ha as Seoul National University student Park Jeong-hwan.

“UDT: Our Neighborhood Task Force” is helmed by a strong creative team. The original concept comes from Ban Ki-ri, known for the compelling narrative of the “Missing: The Other Side” series. Jo Woong, acclaimed for his work on “Justice” and “Quiet Sales,” directs, with Kim Sang-yoon handling the screenplay. This collaboration aims to deliver a high-quality and entertaining action-comedy with a fresh perspective.

With its engaging premise of reservists protecting their neighborhood and a diverse cast of characters, “UDT: Our Neighborhood Task Force” is set to premiere in the second half of 2025 across Coupang Play, Genie TV, and ENA.
