BTS recently released their new album, ARIRANG, and released the “SWIM” music video and all the tracks.

In particular, netizens discovered an unexpected historical figure in the lyrics of “Aliens.”

Kim Gu was a Korean independence activist and statesman. He was the leader of the Korean Independence Movement against the Empire of Japan and a Korean reunification activist.

This aligns with the member’s thoughts on their attempts to include Korean elements in the album.

Rather than bringing Korean elements in exactly as they are, we wanted to express them naturally in our own way. We wanted to take ‘Arirang,’ which can be interpreted in many ways, and offer a fresh interpretation.
