tvN’s upcoming drama “Parole Examiner Lee” has released a new highlight video ahead of its premiere!
“Parole Examiner Lee” tells the story of lawyer Lee Han Shin (Go Soo), who becomes a parole officer responsible for making final decisions on inmate paroles. Lee Han Shin is determined to prevent inmates who show little remorse for their crimes from obtaining parole through money, connections, or deceitful tactics.
The highlight video introduces Lee Han Shin, a man with an unusual background. Once a prison guard, Lee Han Shin now works as a “butler lawyer,” handling personal tasks and running errands for incarcerated clients. His unconventional actions, such as blocking eggs thrown at his client and performing in glittery clothes, stand in sharp contrast to the serious image of most lawyers.
Through his work as a butler lawyer, Lee Han Shin earns the favor of Ji Dong Man (Song Young Chang), chairman of the Ojung Group. Lee Han Shin then reveals his true goal: “Please make me a parole officer.” When asked why he wants the demanding, low-paying job, he simply replies, “Truth,” leaving others curious about the truth he is searching for.
The focus then shifts to Detective Ahn Seo Yun (Yuri) from the Criminal Investigation Team, who impressively subdues a suspect. Her growing interest in a particular case sparks curiosity. In one scene, Ahn Seo Yun examines a photo of a woman who appears to be close to her, suggesting a deep connection between Ahn Seo Yun’s past and the case.
Meanwhile, legendary loan shark Choi Hwa Ran (Baek Ji Won) is busy collecting debts in her Smile Cash office, using her own tactics. When Lee Han Shin approaches her, he grabs her attention by saying, “I’m here to help you recover the money you’re owed.”
Lee Han Shin seeks out Ahn Seo Yun and demands the case files of Ji Dong Man. He reveals his true goal, saying, “I’m trying to stop Ji Dong Man’s parole.” This sets the stage for a collaboration between Lee Han Shin, Ahn Seo Yun, and Choi Hwa Ran. However, their first meeting is filled with tension. Ahn Seo Yun declares, “I don’t get involved with a lawbreaker,” while Choi Hwa Ran responds, “I don’t dine with the police,” leading to a humorous clash.
After some persuasion from Lee Han Shin, the three begin to work together. As Ahn Seo Yun leads the charge, Lee Han Shin and Choi Hwa Ran slowly begin to gel as a team. Eventually, Ji Dong Man’s parole hearing goes in Lee Han Shin’s favor, and the trio executes a flawless defense, delivering a satisfying victory.
The arrival of Ji Dong Man’s son Ji Myung Seob (Lee Hak Joo) shifts the tone entirely. As soon as he returns to Korea, a wave of new crimes, including a murder, sparks rising tension. Ji Dong Man also learns about Lee Han Shin’s weak point, Cheon Su Beom (Jo Seung Yeon), and tries to exploit it.
Despite this, Lee Han Shin refuses to back down. “Well, let’s begin,” he says, launching into his unorthodox defense strategy. Ahn Seo Yun’s question, “Can you really stop them this way?” only heightens curiosity about his creative approach. As a lawyer, a detective, and a loan shark join forces, the question remains whether their combined efforts can take down the Ojung Group.
