NewJeans' departure from ADOR has led to a new development from the agency, which filed a lawsuit to verify the group's contract validity under the company.
On December 5, ADOR filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court to verify the group's exclusive contract validity. ADOR stated that the decision was made to highlight that the contract cannot be lightly terminated based on one-sided claims.
The agency sought the court's help to maintain the foundation of the K-pop industry, which the company claims to have been made and flourished by the healthy communication between idols and their companies.
"We are saddened to share this news, but this is to prevent any misconceptions the artists might have regarding the contract termination's legality, which could also lead to actions that violate their existing contract, and cause unwanted damages and confusion among stakeholders."
ADOR also highlighted the importance of fundamental agreement between the company and NewJeans.
"If this basic agreement doesn't happen, the company's efforts to endure uncertainty and establish full trust in the form of investment will be rendered ineffective," it shared.
The agency continued, "In other words, we are concerned that systematic support and investment can no longer be expected."
Furthermore, ADOR shared that despite the agency not having landed an opportunity yet to communicate with NewJeans, it assured that it would do its best to resolve any misunderstanding with the group.
